The constant EvoM dyno comparison fog continues...

"My girlfriends brother made more than that on XYZ dyno in Nebraska, stock!"

OP: Where is the knock happening? Down low right on spool or peak boost? How many counts? For how long?

who did your motor work?

you might be picking up false knock from an engine that was built on the loose side.

Not trying to rain on your parade but those number's are very low dd dyno don't read lower then mustang's i would go back to the tuner and telll him to retune it or go to somebody different because my evo 9 with bolt on's no cam's made alot more power and 60percent more tq so that goes to show something's wrong there you said make 460whp on pump 22psi easy plus that's rather low boost for that turbo get your self on alky kit the car would make 600whp.

I made 290 awhp and 301 awtq on a dyno dynamics in 102 degree weather recently. This was also on 22 psi, stock turbo

Anyone else think that his dump tube is causing the false knock. I have heard of that before.

Well this DD reads lower than the Mustang dyno in my area.

To razorlab,
My tuner said that the knock happens under spool up most often and usually continues up until the run is done (8k). On the same exact maps, it would knock like crazy sometimes and it wouldn't knock sometimes. Sometimes it would be a completely knock free run. I don't know what the knock counts are when he was tuning it but when I logged it under the same boost but with richer AFR's, it had inconsistent knock also. The knock occured from spool up and dissappeared but sometimes it knock all the way to 8k. I usually see anything between 4-9 knocks under spool-up gradually decreases to 2-4 knocks as RPMS increase.

I did not remove the balance shafts. I did the work on my motor. I'm so super positive that nothing is loose. I am not saying that something can't be loose...it could be but I know I did good work on it.

Also, I just noticed that my dump tube is touching the o2 housing. Maybe that is it?

Get a standalone and most importantly...

GET A TUNER THAT CAN TELL YOU IF YOUR CAR IS KNOCKING OR NOT!

Seriously... that is what a tuner is for. If he can't tell you what is happening he does not know how to monitor an engine properly.

That has nothing to do with it. Just about all top engine builders remove them in their built 2.0Ls, including Buschur, AMS and J.A.M.

Oh he can tune. I don't like to take it out on my tuners although I do understand where you are coming from. If I had the whole day to myself at his shop and a bunch of money to use up, I'm sure we would have found the problem but unfortunately we didn't have a whole day. Plus...he had another guy coming in for a tune so he can't deal with my problems and I completely understand. 'Till next time!

Balance shaft deletes can cause odd harmonics from 4,000rpm and lower. Seems to cause a host of false knock. Sometimes up to 30 counts.

Yes removal is ok just not on a stock ECU. Just making a suggestion, for all we know he didn't.
