Anti-Lag

I was wondering if anyone was actually using anti-lag in their daily driver?

I know it sounds really crazy but I was just wondering if anyone drives around with it daily.

Im sure he's talking about the mis-fire system used in many rally cars...

I assumed he meant the launch assistant "anti-lag"..

Simply there is no turbo lag.

USDM evo's do not come equipped with an ALS.

i cant answer your question kid, but id love to have an al setup fro my car. especially one that didnt require standalone.

Anti-lag is cool but it´s only makes a difference on rally cars and maby down the quarter mile..
And it´s a great way to kill your turbo!

Lets see your dumping fuel down the manifold, your EGT temps are gonna skyrocket and your turbine is constintly spooled and exposed to extreme temperatures.

And as far as the engine itself (I believe this is correct as I did some reasearch on it a while back but I may be wrong.) Anti lag is accomplished by retarding the timing 20deg which causes the pistons to tickle the valve if you will. And over time the valves wil wear.

do a search on it. there is a fair bit of info on here about the wonderfull anti-lag.

as for what is it, well its just a way of, normally in the ECU, of retarding the timing while keeping the mixture pretty dam rich, on over run. what you aim on doing is effective igniting the fuel/air mix as the exhaust vavles open. this means the mixture is still burning in the exhaust manifold spooling the turbo up.

with modern systems you can often switch it on and off or even turn it up and down. a few of the UK gusy are running it on the street. the main damage is done to the turbos. obviously the turbo is going to be placed under alot of thermal stress than normal.

anti-lag can be used as a launch aid to. often rally guys will see anyhting upto 15psi of boost sat on the line! by the way thats WOT + 15psi of boost and the engine is still sat at a constant revs....thats how retarded the timing really is! lol

if you want the ultimate then how about you rig your BOV to vent back into the exhaust manifold?? this was done on a FORD RS200 pikes peak car. a mag tested the car and said it really help reduce the lag, then they turned the anti-lag system on to!

emagine all that unburnt fuel in the exhaust with a load of nice cold air!

lag? what lag? lol
