Stock IX Turbo: Race Gas

There are problems with E85 though. From station to station the blend will some times differ. Also depending on the season you might have issues too. This could cause issues with your tune.

It's not even a real concern. You just have to be aware of when they switch to e-70 if they even do that in your area. In CA, the pump said "minimum e-85," because they never need e-70 for cold startup. We have specific stations here that maintain e-85 all year 'round, so we go there.

I run 100 octane on the street all the time, been meaning to switch to e85 as it looks like people are making real good power on it. My best is 11.42 at 118 with a bad 1.69 60 foot on 100 octane, I'm sure I can knock a few 10ths off with the e85 and with a good tune and possibly get better gas mileage. Jake Montgomery has tuned a few evo's with e85, one with a gt35r and the other a green turbo, both have stated to get nearly 30mpg when not boosting. Its 6.00 a gallon for 100 octane, and around 3.50 a gallon for e-85 if I can get even the same gas mileage I'm getting now it would be well worth it to me as the gas alone is cheaper.

Better gas mileage with E-85? Are you sure about that? It requires 30% more fuel just to run the same AFRs, so I am not sure that's right. You lose tons of gas mileage with E-85 because of this. We usually see 12-14mph even on the highway, but at $2.79 it's the same value as getting 91oct but with tons more power.

Yes I couldn't believe it myself... Tony Gibson has the evo with a green on it doing about 30mpg on the highway. I'm sure its due to the tune on the aem. I will have him chime in on that

Around here we have 110 leaded fuel at the pump. I wouldn't consider it pump gas though.
Last year 110 was $5.25 per gallon and today Turbo blue 110 is currently $6.45 per gallon. It really hasn't gone up that much.
I run a 50/50 mix of 93/110 octane 24/7. The only time I switch maps is during a lapping day. I keep the race fuel but run less boost and a little richer as well.
Between my 98 GSX (4G63), 03 EVO, and 06 EVO, I've easily run 300 gallons of leaded fuel and never had an issue with O2 sensors or anything else for that matter. I am catless as well.
There is no down side for me. For a little more than $1 per gallon I can run a 100 octane mix 24/7. No need for fail safes. No worries about cylinder washout. No lines to run through the cabin. No risk of uneven distribution. I love the sweet smell of race gas in the morning .... smells like .... victory!
$4.15 (93) + $6.45 (110) = $10.60 (2 gallons of 103) = $5.30 / gallon = $1.15 more per gallon to run 100 octane!!!

My turbo only sees 30psi whether it's on the street or track I have been running this for 8k miles (when I put the meth kit on). Before that I ran pump on the street and C16 at the track.

But boy it sure is fun! I put headstuds in when I put the cams and meth in. I ran 30psi on race gas before that though. I bought my Evo brand new and got my first tune (23psi) at 800 miles. I now have 42k miles. I used to go to the track every week and I'm sure I have over 100 passess running 30psi. I think the Evo motors are stronger than we think (when set up and maintained correctly.)
