As people asked abut the Dynapack, it is a hub dyno, the wheels or tyres has no influence on the read, so the repeatable runs are very accurate, in that way, you can tune your car and see in one run to the next if you have a progress or not.

That’s how the car is hocked the Dynapack, at 1st it looks scurry

Not the owner of Motec but UK dealer I think.

And what is that I spy in the tuning shot? HEADPHONES

Nice job degreeing the cams with engine in car RanEvo... how far out were the HKS? I've degreed a set of 272's and they were pretty much perfect so almost no adjustment needed to get to the correct centerline values.

So how can you gain 40whp from a ported head on an IX turbo? Sounds a little far-fetched. Surely you have removed the MAF housing with your new ECU and are running more boost on top of that?

Great numbers none-the-less.
when you port the head you can make even more power then that

Fraser was the first to get MoTec into UK and Europe, he was the owner of the Europe distribution of MoTec, under him all the dealers of Europe, however now MoTec Europe headquarter is under different hands, and Fraser traveling around the world tuning. actually after he did my cars, he went straight to the Le Mans 24-Hour Car Race to work with the Mercedes team.

as to the headphones: that's one of the best today knocking device, it is " The Knock Box". it's amplified the knocking in a way that you can hear a single knock even if the headphones are hanging up on the mere as you so in the picture, and it have a filter system that separate the knocks from other noises, very impressive unit.

degreeing the cams: you absolute right with the HKS 272 cams, they are very accurate almost on the OEM 0 timing, so from my previous experience with few of HKS camshafts I wouldn't do any efforts to degreeing.
however I'm not using HKS in this project, but rather aggressive Piper camshafts, and that's a different story, as its not near the OEM 0

I use headphones with a equalizer and amp all the time on the engine dyno. Its a bit harder to have that setup on the road though.

These are the headphones my tuner swears by.. his are a bit different but this is how I put mine together. Not pictured is the copper pipe bolted to the head via intake manifold bolt which the rubber hose connects to.

yes, that's the traditional old good stuff, however with "the knock box" you have a filtration system that you can eliminate other engine sounds, and get accurate knocking sounds, it make a significant different, also you can amplified the knocks.

I use a equalizer set to pick up sounds between 4000 and 6000 hz. This is the frequency that most cast Iron blocks resonate at. I would have to look at some of my notes to see what my settings are for aluminum blocks. But its quite a bit cheaper to pick up some basic sound equiptment and make your own "knock box" than purchase a unit people sell.

for Frasier! He tuned my brother's GT4 about a decade ago in the UK.

Are the combustion chambers in the head individually cc'd?
