Boost controller problem(maybe)

So I installed a manual boost controller and as soon as I started the car the SES light came on....does putting a mbc on cause that to happen because the car is not regulating the boost anymore?

I am going to guess you unplugged your factory BCS.

The vacuum lines dont need to be attached but the solenoid needs to stay plugged in.

+1 All to often people take the factory BCS out and as stated above unless you are running a stand alone it has to stay plugged in, although it can be moved somewhere else. Also, I had a buddy put a MBC in and forgot to plug the MAF back in when he was done! LOL SES came on immediately also. Just a few things to look for. As for AutoZone or Advanced having the correct OBD II code reader, yes unless they are complete idiots they will be able to read your codes. The guys in my area where complete idiots so I just bought my own Scan tool.

It is built in to your MAF sensor. Its odd that this code would come up and not a MAF code. If you damaged a wire in the harness that goes to the MAF, its possible.

Did you check to see if you left your factory boost control solenoid unplugged? Its possible that the code reader that was used was spitting out generic codes..
