This manifold is VERY similar in concept to the HKS formula car manifold design. It is also extremely expensive to manufacture, compared to the usual SMIM.

Don't assume that the number made has anything to do with whether they work well or not...

I don't know if I would say "VERY similar."

The two manifolds use distinctly different methods behind there inlet configurations. The HKS actually uses a controlled cross section that forces the pressure distribution across the plenum to be nearly a constant. This manifold makes an attempt at distributing the air more evenly then a more conventional side feed inlet. Driven Innovations manifold does something similar by offseting the plenum on the runners.

Beyond that, the HKS manifold also features ITBs, dual injectors designed to provide better atomization at high engine speeds, tapered runners, and I'm sure some other very well engineered design aspects that are less obvious. Comparing this manifold to the HKS manifold is quite the stretch.

Not at all. As I said previously, the manifolds are similar IN CONCEPT. That is obvious from a comparison of their basic shapes, and the manner in which the airflow is distributed. Are there differences? Sure. The intended uses are different. However, the feature that was the topic of discussion here is readily apparent.

That having been said, the HKS is a pretty advanced solution that looks great just sitting there, don't you think?

I bow before that HKS manifold.

If only more pictures of the insides were available...
