The launch matters for trap speed, moreso with a big turbo if you bog it.

celica2evo, well that sucks. I was hoping to hear it dropped further.

You and everyone else needs to keep in mind that slorice, vwjeff and spin2gst all ran fast before they had their 500+ whp builds done so they had a lot of practice under their belts already. It's not easy going 10's, those three made it look like it is because they are excellent drivers and had a lot of runs.

Personally, I've still to this day, NEVER ran a 10 second pass in an AWD car, yes, you read right, never done it. Back in the DSM days my best was an 11.0 at 127 mph and I sold the car to John Shepherd with a broken rear diff. I then started building the cars into RWD's and quickly got into the 7's. Since then it's been kind of a personal joke to me that I never went 10's. I ran my RS one myself since it has been capable of running 10's and on that particular pass I had a problem with the AEM EMS and ran 11.7 at 137 mph or something. I haven't tried again since.

Let me know if you are going Tuesday night and if it is at all possible for me I will come out there with you. Just call the shop and remind me or let the guys know you are going, just make sure I get the message.

I am going to the track at least 3 times this week. I want to get in as much practice as possible before the shootout. I will go 10s this week. I am going to try to get Tuesday off work and go to 42.

David, I am sending you a PM. I need help with the Mini Battery.

Celica2Evo, Getting down the track requires a lot of practice, it terms you might understand it would be like you playing Tiger at the US Open. You can get to the tee box, but it's hard as hell to play at his level. Take your time and learn your car. 42 is not the place the burn down the house. I'd do launches and 1/8 mile stuff there, but full passes there are not a good idea yet for you at that track. Save those laps for a good track like Norwalk when you figure it out. My .50 cents. Indy

Thank Indy, I understand that its all about practice as I have had very few passes, ever. I had 3 runs in the car before it blew and I had all the work done. My main problems are getting off the line, my shifts all fine and seemed fast. It was My RT, 60' and 1/8th mile times that sucked!

Does your comment mean you will do a nine second pass this week.....if so good luck. David is right, its going to take a lot of practice for you to even run consecutive high 10 second passes. As David said lately hes built cars for some awesome drivers...it just takes practice and patience.

Just my 2 cents....and btw I can't drive for crap either. Not enough experience yet.

Sorry, lol, I meant 10s. I know I can do it, just need the practice and more runs.

Norwalk is a great track, but sucks for learning. We were there for almost 6 hours and got 2 runs in. The other 2 tracks that I will be running at (LaRue and 42), in that amount of time I could get in close to 8-10 runs. And its hard to figure out what I was doing wrong, when I had 4 hours between runs. I know I will get it in time though.

I did not go thru the entire thread, i just want to know how are these cars making 500 plus whp on 29 psi on pump. As I read in the first page and as known before people were getting those numbers on C16 before. Can Celica2evo say drive his car to Brooklyn fill up on 93 here and get the same performance or can he only use 93oct in Ohio.. I just would like to know.

Yes, the only stipulation I put on my gas is I like to get it at either Shell or Sunoco, and that is my own standards as I think they have the best gas around here.

The reason we are making so much power is a proven Mod list from Buschur and Daves tuning on the AEM. Without a flawless set-up, this power is not possible on pump.

celica2evo answered the question for you correctly. Yes, the car can be driven anywhere in the country and run on 93-94 octane and make those numbers.

Celica, you'll get it and I am in 100% agreement that running at Norwalk for practice or testing is a complete waste of time. Too much time between runs and impossible. The place is just so popular it makes it impossible to run a car to learn anything. It sucks because the place is the best.

D42 is a good idea. Just make sure you do everything you can to run down the right side lane, you should be fine. Make sure you keep a good hold on the steering wheel, seriously.

I have to disagree with Brian and Dave. I think Norwalk is a great place to learn how to race. Its a much better track. The track for the most part is always prep'd. The only problem is finding a time to go when they are not packed. Brian a track rental is the ticket. I was at 2 last year, 1 in may on my stock turbo and made 30+ passes or so and again sept with my 35r and bunch of guys from Dayton and I swear in a 6 hour period, I bet I made 25+ passes. Dave you where there and went 8.8 in the black car. I would be down for spliting some cash and go in with a few guys for a private track rental 1 day, maybe before the shootout? Seems how track rental is gonna go away here real soon, and for $1200.... why not? If we get like 6 guys in on this its only $200 a peice and we all can get everything dialed in... think about it.
Racing at 42 is a joke. Like I was telling Indy tonight, if your car traps over 125mph, 42 becomes kinda dangerous on the big end. You guys dont understand how scary DW42 is at 145mph... you damn near go air born through the traps, in either lane.
I would maybe go back to 42, just not on race gas.
