I have that turbo sitting here to go on a customers car and i cant wait to get to get some results.. I was always happy with the 67p trim from precision as I feel its the baddest t3 turbo..
Congrats Al on the 9 sec pass right out of the box on the new setup.. I sometimes wish i had that setup still as it makes racing the car alot more fun since it will break alot less.. I guess i am going to have to take my RS and get it up and going so when i cause wreckage with the 42r i have a backup to still have fun with like you are!! Good luck!!

Of course theoretically the pt65 is a advancement on old school "p" trim wheel dynamics - or at least that is what the turbo wheel gurus at PT say.
I have yet to materialize any quantifiable improvement over a p trim turbine wheel. However , I am still stuck with a less than optimal turbine housing which I am swapping out tomorrow.
David Buschur is helping me with another upgrade which along with the turbine housing will hopefully allow me to run more boost and achieve 800 whp with slightly faster response.
Testing and refinement are the key to great results.

What do you attribute the 4 tenths drop in ET to? You didnt list a 60ft for your second pass. What do you attribute the lower trap speed of your second pass (4 mph slower) even though you ran 4 tenths quicker?

Sounds like he didn't spin as much off the line as much to me.
Great to see this going your way Al, you'll spend more time racing and less time wrenching hopefully!

The first pass was a easy run down the track with gentle shifting and trying to listen and "feel" what the car was doing to try and see if everything was working right and smooth before I could review a data log. During the first pass I got no traction what so ever and the car spun all the way through first gear and I got a 1.78 60 '. I think I timed my shifts well in that pass, but they were slow shifts.
The second pass I knew it would be my last attempt of the day and I drove it like i stole it. The 60' was a significantly better 1.527 which I think got me the better ET and I was 2 mph quicker in the 1.8th
I am not really sure why the trap speed fell slightly - just over 3 mph slower. I think i did not hold out 3rd long enough, I am not sure. I made a slight tuning change a bit richer after the first pass was a bit lean, but doubt that would attribute for such a loss in power. I think I would have needed a few more pases to dial in the tune up 100% at the track and get a handle on the car's target trap speed and more imporantly the best rpm window to shift in.
Sadly, I already took the turbo off today and I am changng up some things to try and make it even faster so I will have to retune again next time out.
138 - 142 mph is just too slow for me and I have to find some more power.

One thing that is for sure is that the engine was very warm that day as it was hot out and it was my 2nd or 3rd pass of the day when it failed.
My opinion is that shifting at super high revs over 10,300 rpms from 1st to 2nd gear to keep the car from bogging into 2nd gear was what put a lot of stress on my rods. The tear down showed that everything, (bearings, pistons, rings, etc etc) was 100% perfect - just the rod snapped in half on a down stroke at the bottom of the power stroke. (The head was untouched).
With the new lower reving power band and more modest power level the set up should prove to be a lot longer lasting and more dependable than before. (fingers crossed).
