I would keep it between 5K miles intervals.

OK I will add on this. I use whatever is available regular mobil 1 syn or extended syn. If I use extended I will actually keep it in the car longer then 3k. I change the oil on 5k but that is because I really don't push my car(gas is too expensive in the NYC area). Most of my driving is highway actually I have a little over 4k right now on the oil in the pan and it's still has that nice color to it. So for me it's whatever Walmart is stocking at that time but until I push crazy HP I'll stick with Mobil 1!

I would perform an oil analysis to actually see if I can go at longer intervals.

based on their website the EP has 50 percent more SuperSyn helps keep engines running like new. so I guess I'll also try this on my next change oil and probably make the intervals to 5k.

save the money and just change every 3K miles. like everybody said here 50% more supersyn and you can actually notice the difference every oil change.

I use the regular M1 with 4500 mile changes in my Evo- I drive pretty gently. Sent a sample from the last change to blackstone and they said there was plenty of life left and 5500 mi would be no problem. I'll go to 5k since that's what Mitsu recommends for changes.

Like a few have said, unless you're road racing, 3k mile oil changes with synthetic is wasting money and time. I know it makes you feel better but it won't make any difference in engine life- something else is going to die first before you wear out the bearings from not changing the oil enough. For some proof, I have 285,000 miles on a 1G AWD Talon, never rebuilt, 3500-4000 mile changes with conventional oil. Oh, I'm the original owner. Same issue with the obsession most have here with the "best" oil filter- I've used Fram and then changed to Purolator on the Talon and the car is still going- purolator is just fine.
