I originally upgraded to an 3071 (AMS kit), and it wasn't really what I expected. Since then I've bumped up to a 50 trim, and since ditching the stock ECU, I'm very happy with it. I might, maybe, someday feel the need to step up to something like an HTA35r, but for now the car is still too fast for me to be 100% comfortable with it. IMO it is definitely already borderline as far as street use goes (read: too fast to be usable). Street driving has really become an exercise in restraint with my Evo, and I still have some learning to do in order to get 100% comfortable with it on the track (road racing).
I imagine that a 3076 is pretty close to my 50 trim, so I can only give it a big thumbsup. ... just be warned that buying a turbo or turbo kit is only a small part of the puzzle. Getting all the parts to work in harmony can be challenging.

How "Real" is it that the FP Red's compressor can signicantly outflow a 3076R, or even the HTA 3076? If it(the FP Red) is capable of moving more air than a 3076, then it is at least as "Real" as a 3076, isn't it?

Agreed that the red is a monster turbo, but it doesn't perform well with stocker parts. You need large bump sticks, Ported TB and Mani, and injectors at a minimum, while you can throw on a kit with stock parts and upgrade to a bigger turbo later. And the Red is 1800 dollars. So if you can find a kit for 2-2500 used or new. I say go for it.

Jeepster: Granted, that we have proof that the Red performs well on heavily modded race motored 2-Liters, agreed. But I wasn't aware that the Red had proven itself to be an underachiever on our "Johnny Average" Evo's, or that just any old turbo kit was superior to the Red in this regard.

Here is my opinion on the subject
I have two set ups I suggest
After Stage IV on the stock turbo a FP green is had to beat if you power goals are in the low 400 whp level
Otherwise the Buschur Racing Gt35 with the tubular manifold is a excelent high quality kit that is a great all around turbo.
IMHO the other options like the RED, Gt3065, Gt3076 etc etc give up too much power potential for magianlly better spool up
I have not had too many customers who complained about a Gt35 set up's lag after they were driving it for a while

By "real" i meant jumping up to a real turbo as in something thats not stock appearing, something requiring a manifold and an external. It wasnt intended to be a slam on anyone.
Thanks for the various input, seems a few people who went small apparently went after a 35r later anyway, which is kind of interesting.
Realistically, a green doesnt really add a substantial amount of power for most people, unless you had a 03 w a 9.8, a white didnt either, and I really doubt a red will, but that remains to be seen. Going for a 30x of some type is a proven gain. I'm not looking to spend $1700 on a green and get 10-20whp. Id rather go ahead and get something that perform initially, even if its throwing out more for it.
Also, if you need any further proof that the red might not pan out well, look at the thread where there already saying leave all the "puppy" cams in the box. I dont see any of the usual suspects saying you're not going to get decent results with 30x/35r if youve got some hks cams for example. Everytime i see results for some of those new stock frames, i keep thinking built all out ****. Hell by that reasoning i should stick with the stocker since Curt Brown went 10.x @ 127 with it.
Thanks for the opinions guys.
If youve got any constructive feedback, keep it coming.

Just my oppinion but on a stock block 2L with the basic bolt-on's I wouldn't go bigger than a 50Trim or GT3076R...
Ther are two common 50 Trims: 45lbs\min (Vanilla Garette) & 49lbs\min (AGP, Turbonetics, Precision)
A GT3076R is rated at 52lbs\min
All three of them will use the same size T3 .63 Hotside...
Word!

Well im on the stock block/head/intake/tb and S1 cams...making a little over 400Hp on a mustang with my BB50 trim, and thats with 91 Oct only....no meth...just what you get from the pump. Thats 20-30 more HP then the Green does on the same dyno same conditions. I get max TQ or spool around 4000RPM on the dyno. But thats just in my case...others seem to get different results.

Buying a lot of the parts that people get to max out stock frame turbos are also going to be a help with ANY turbo. Intake and tb, upgraded ignition systems, fuel system upgrades, aggressive cams....they all add up. Just throwing a big turbo on a basically stock car might not get great results either, just keep that in mind
