No the check engine light came on maybe half mile down the road from carmax, they read it to be running rich.
I bought the car the 29th went on leave the same night, car had the problem but drove just fine as long as not getting on it. I first figured boost leak no big deal have it taken care of when I get back. So I put a good amount of miles on it with no CEL then a stones throw away from carmax it goes on.
Beats me maybe carmax can just buy me a new motor lol.

Thats the thing, it ran for over 4k with no CEL and it was having the problem, and now they are "saying" that the cars holding boost now but its still bucking. Im thinking there may have been a boost leak but that's not the only problem the car was/is having.

to have a better idea of what is going on you need to get a tactrix cable and a logger then start logging. you could even attach your logs here so that you could get feed back from the people here.

or the car is tuned very poorly and not running enuff or running too much timing, which would definatly cause the car to buck, and it also explains what he said about the car being faster at part throttle then at wide, i think its a tuning issue dude, have sumone open your map and look at your high octane ignition table

Sounds like a tune issue. No telling what parts and tune the car had on it before you. Intakes untuned cause issues. My car had similar issues especially going off throttle, a better tune then I had fixed it

So with them setting the ECU back to stock and it having a K&N intake, do you think Ill continue to have the same problem?
I didn't think an untuned intake would have such bad results...I mean yeah not optimal power but violent bucking at wot?

You might have some issues still, yes. Heck even just contacting a good mail-in flash vendor might be a good idea. I'm sure someone has to have a base map for stock + K&N.
My car ran like crap until I had a tune done with the CAI on it.

i had TBE and intake and full intercooler pipes and an MBC with no issues in my stock tune, but the thing is you dont have a stock tune, i would say have it flashed to stock then have it tuned, it could be that the person set your boost limit low and your hitting boost cut, sometimes happens when its cold feels the same way, either way a good log or a copy of your map posted up would get you definite answers

Well Im not sure I dont have a stock tune, thats what Im assuming because of the way the cars acting.
So I'm hoping the tune was just ****ed and the ecu being flash backed to stock will fix the issue.

I'm 99% sure it's a boost leak. That will cause the car to run very rich, buck, and basically drive poorly. Have them check for leaks at the intercooler pipes, as this is one of the most common places for a leak to occur. Also, if you can, have Mitsu put back on your stock intake pipe/intake box. It's much better than most aftermarket intakes, especially the K&N.

it does sounds like a boost leak, im not ruling out the ecu issue tho, stop trusting these people and mitsu, bring it to a legit performance oriented shop, i brought my car to mitsu for an inspection once n when the guy drove in he told me my clutch needed to be replaced...i ask him why and he said it grabs high, i said well i have an ACT in there and i have it adjusted to that hieght...just further proof that mitsu doesnt always know best

Well I got the car back. They flashed it back to stock and its running better (Has more power in the mid and low range) but still bucks at WOT after about 5k rpms.
They are saying now they think its a vacuum hose with a PCV check valve in it. They ordered it I have the car gonna bring it back to them on Tuesday when I have a day off.
I scheduled and appointment with Modified By KC the resident Evo expert Chad is gonna get me in Tuesday night to do some pulls and diagnose he issue. So it kinda worked out Mitsu's gonna give me more new parts lol and if that doesn't fix it Im sure Chad will get the problem solved.
