no power but battery works...

i have a evo lX and all i have are coilovers and a catback. 3 days ago i went to go start my car and as i did it sounded like it was gonna start and it dies right away no power. door locks dont even work. so i had to jump it. then today during my lunch break it happens again. i put the key in and turn the key to the on position and everything lights up until i turn the key to start it. it does it again it dies right away. so then i jump it and think its my battery. so when i got home i took out the battery and took it to autozone to get it tested and the guy testing it says its fully charged and has the same amount of juice as a brand new one. wut else could be causing my car to do this. the terminals are on tight. i only had the car for a year. it has 27000 miles. can anyone help me out?

Do you have an alarm on the car? My dad has a 97 3000gt and it had a similar problem before. Some of the wiring on the alarm system was hooked up incorrectly and the starter was not getting enough power. Can you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the ignition on?

What were your battery CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) and volts when they tested your battery?

Check to make sure the terminals on the battery are clean and to the starter are on all the way - Ask me how I know - I had my GF's car towed to a local shop because one day it just stopped working - they took the battery/starter and everything out and it all checked out good - come to find out - the terminals were a little dirty and the connector to the starter was corroded - they cleaned them and the car runs still to this day. Cost me a dumb *** feeling in my stomach for not checking the simple things first.

G/L !

just the factory key less entry. the only things done to the car is the cat back and coilovers.

when i checked the terminals they looked pretty clean to me. when the guy checked the voltage he said it was good. i forgot wut he said i think he said 13 volts but when he was testing it the needle was in the green.
and as for hearing the fuel pump when i turn the key i dont hear anything.

thanks a lot though for the suggestions. any more possibilities

Have the starter tested.

Does the car tick when you crank the key? As in, does it fire the spark plugs?

Is the engine turning over at all?

its either battery or starter ..... if the battery is good have the starter checked and clean every terminal on the battery and starter with a battery brush or a wire brush ( get the metal all shiney again) it can only be one or the other man

Terminals could have been loose also check your Neutral safety switch.

Does it even click like everyone else has asked?

i just got off the phone with autozone to see if they can test my starter and i told him wut the problem is and he told me that it could be the starter solenoid. does anyone know of a starter going out that quick?

it sounds to me like a grounding problem at the battery. you may have insufficient ground or may have some connection that's loose. follow your ground wire and make sure it's firmly attached.
