What happened to the 850R!!!! "Owners" speak up!
All these 850R turbos that were sold but still so little info on them and only 1 car in the 9's using one....
What happened, all these exited customers but no one talks about it, why so hush hush. Like Johnny 5 used to say mooooore input more input please!
It looks like I might have to step up to this, but the silence is scaring me!
Everyone with and 850R please come out the closet and let me know what you guys think. Spool, power, feel etc.....
Thanks

I had a 37R and made the switch to an 850R and I never looked back. It spools faster, hits harder, and makes more power!! I picked up about 25hp just changing to this turbo.
If your looking for a 37R or a little smaller this is the turbo for you.

For a 2.3 stroker looking to make around 600whp and be streetable. For Autocross and street racing you think the 850r is better then an HTA35R?
Cause that's what I was considering for my build.

Well my goal is to keep the powerband wide enough where I can have 500 to 600whp but have it be manageable enough for autox. Thats why I'm trying to see what I can do as far as a combination between turbo and cams and what not.
I was thinking maybe a mild cam would make it so I can have a nice wide powerband. Just trying to do something different and see what works, following the pack isn't really my thing.
I dont think its impossible...

But I did lower the boost down. I think if you try to auto-x 700hp you would have your hands full.

I've autocrossed a 650+ HP FWD civic. And...It...was...AWESOME. I didn't set the FTD but it was competitive in street mod and was just ridiculously fun because it was way too much power for the speeds the course was made for.
When you hit a sweeper off a straight at 100mph that everybody else is going 50-60 around, things get interesting pretty quickly. Makes sure you have the brakes for it, the little 9" rotors and drum rears made it pretty sketchy.
That civic had the benefit of being 2400 pounds and 10:1 compression though. So even in the slow stuff it was just as competitive as 95% of the other cars, since 95% of the street mod class in my area at the time was N/A civics.
