is royal purple causing my motor to tick?

Hey guys

yesturday i changed my oil from Mobile 1 to royal purple.Today on my way home from work,i got out the car and noticed a little tick tick tick tick.It wasnt loud, but it was definitly noticable.Did royal purple do this?I've always pumped 91oct so that shouldnt be the problem.I'm going to dump mobile-1 back into it just to see what happens.

How many miles does your VIII have? I have run RP 20w-50 for 2 and half years and 33,000 miles without a single problem, however, my engine too makes a ticking noise. Has since I bought, and I'm pretty sure it's normal.

Its sounds like the cams engaging the valve kinda noise.

BTW: I'm mostly stock with only an intake and fly/clutch.

I think it could also be the alternator which is down below the cam gears. Mine is constant, also.

If it sounds like this i believe it has something to do with the t-belt tensioner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAqYn8sOrOY

But if its a fast ticking its lifter tick which i dont think is to much of a problem. When i had my 1g talon i fixed the lifter tick with some different lifters because the tick was so bad it would cause phantom knock.Hopes this helps, mine sounds like the one in the vid tho

So the fast ticking that follows the throttle speed is the lifters?

Royal Purple will make your Engine tick like you are experiencing.

I noticed on my Evo and changed to Amsoil 10x30.
Royal Purple is good, and actually you can see a power increase on the Dyno using it.
But it does make the engine tick some times.

Royal Purple Shears out of Grade way too quick which is probably the reason for the tick.

some people have said it already,

however royal purple is not good for DD, there is some ball wear test and long term royal was the worst, it breaks down easy, i want to say is great for a night track or so but to run it 3k uh uh.

amsoil dominator is for offroad use only however i still use it, it has zink and other goodies search it up on google and mobil
