300kw? Isn't that like 400hp? Why don't you just spend like $500US and get yourself a nitrous kit, and spray like an 80hp shot? Now you have the power you wanted, it won't beat the car down all the time (only when you want it) which means more reliability, and you spent less than half of the amount it would cost to buy a new turbo and supporting parts, yielding in the same power.

The RNR "Ramhorn" header may look nice, but the question is: does it perform? Buschur Racing dyno tested the RNR ramhorn header for the stock turbo and it turned out to be a dud. RNR itself as a company has a somewhat checkered history. The owners of the company disappeared without a trace, leaving behind some very unhappy customers.

thanks a lot for all the feedback..
So guessing the general view here is stay away from RNR..guess looks arent all that anyways..

Also when i say i want the GT35R is because yes one day i would like to hit the 400kw mark. and for that matter i like to future proof. instead of buy things that i will end p having to eplace down the line...

FP GREEN? anyone care to explain?

From their site:

The EVOGreen Model turbocharger is a direct bolt-in upgrade for 2006 Lancer Evolution cars and can also be used on earlier EVO4-8 models with the EVO8 turbo installation kit (required to avoid contact with the starter). The installation kit is required for 2003-2005 year model EVO8 and includes the compressor outlet pipe, oil lines, water lines, and all required gaskets.
This turbo appears externally to be a 2006 EVO9 turbocharger. It uses the larger diameter EVO9 compressor housing and bearing housing found in the 2006 models. It uses our 700cfm 69-5 billet compressor wheel and our enlarged 11 blade turbine wheel. This combination of increased compressor and turbine flow results in a very broad powerband and stock like boost response while still being capable of well over 400whp.

When you go to the above linked, Forced Performance website, hit the "turbochargers" tab and take a look at the GT3582HTA(aka, HTA 35). The HTA 35, is basically a B.B. Garrett GT 3582R with an upgraded, faster spooling "HTA" compressor wheel, spinning within an anti-surge ported comp housing. The .63 turbine housing is probably best for a stockblock, street driven Evo like yours. You can get this turbo in either a cast manifold or a tubular header kit from Buschur Racing. In addition to the .63 there is also an available .82 turbine housing, as well as the even roomier 1.06.

If you're shooting for 400hp do not buy a new turbo, especially not a 35r. Max out the stock turbo.

A 35r is for someone that wants BIG power. With a bigger turbo comes more lag which would be unnecessary for you if you "only" want 400 hp.

I should note that i'm not extremely educated on this topic... just reiterating things that i've heard countless times on this forum.

Stock engine can handle 430-475 somewhat reliably for a good while. You can go higher than that on the stock bottom end, but don't expect it to last long.

Hey dude,

Good to see another kiwi on here. I'm running GT35R .82AR on my evo 6 it made 390KW @ wheels on 27si on my old 2L setup. Didn't see much boost until 4800rpm then it was full on till 8400.

Im now running in my new 2.3L setup(probably closer to 2.4) aswell as Aquamist HFS 5 Meth injection kit, hopefully get much better spool up with the 2.3 and a bit more power with the meth when I go back to the dyno after the run in.

Changes I have made
2.3L Stroker
Worked Head Kelford 280 Solid cams/solid lifters
1mm Oversize Ferrea valves/springs...etc etc
Link Plus G2
Aquamist HFS 5

Heres a couple of old vids
