Looking for 350whp...

Sup yall. I plan on doing a FP Red down the road. For now I just want to concentrate on hitting a personal power goal. Im looking to make 350whp or better. The car is an evo8 (9.8 hotside), daily driven, 60k on the clock, and it will be tuned on a DynoJet with 93oct. I feel like that number is easily attainable. I want to try to make that number without having to put on the 02 housing and ported manifold. I want to put on the o2 housing, manifold, and RED at the same time. More than likely i will get the GSC S2's and springs/retainers BEFORE i get tuned to help me reach that number.

Do yall think I can hit 350whp with my current mods plus GSC S2's cams?

CURRENT MODS: ETS 3.5" FMIC, UICP, LICP, RECIRC PIPE, INTAKE, EVO9 BOV, 255lph fuel pump, Megan Downpipe and test pipe, HKS Carbon-Ti exhaust, Hallman MBC, Exedy Twin

UNISTALLED PARTS: Megan o2 housing, ported OEM exhaust manifold

It would be close on race gas and more boost on a dynojet! The stock 9.8 housing is hurting you though!! It really kills the topend power on the 8's! How much boost are you wanting to run on the s2's and the stock 8 turbo will decide the power range, but it will be closer with the cams!

Not sure about the psi. I live in Atlanta so more than likely I will go to TopSpeed,Batlground, Dyno4mance, or Forged to be tuned. I think Topspeed usually tunes around 22-23psi on pump(93oct) on the stockers. Im not sure about the other shops around here. I only want to buy cams once so the GSC S2's are more for the down the road set up than now. I think i could make 350whp on race gas easily but I more concerned with doing it on 93. also I know i will make more power with the 10.5 hotside but Im gonna stick with the 9.8 until I get the RED.

well, I have 05, and with ETS 3.5 Intercooler, with lower and upper pipes, 255 Fuel pump, ETS intake, Greddy Ti catback, Aspec Ti testpipe, Works 3" downpipe, Works 3" O2, and Hallman MBC, I made 282/301 on 93 gas at 22psi ..

Im planning to go with red or green as well next year, and probably with Cosworth 272 cams.

My friend who has 03 with full 3" exhaust, HKS cams 264/272 and camgears, Nisei IC pipes but stock intercooler and intake, and Xede, made ~320/330 @ 22psi on 93 ...

I have 3" downpipe, cat delete, 3" catback, intake, LICP, walbro 255, and BC272. I made 352whp/341tq @ 23psi on 93. It can be done but like they were saying the 9.8 hotside is gonna hurt you.

thnx and i do realize that the 9.8 will hurt me but i was hoping that the GSC S2's could do the trick. Eitherway, i wont be upset because i do plan to go with a RED much much later down the road. I dont want to invest in the 10.5 hotside because i wont be able to use it on the new set up.

lol, im sure well i hope someone on here has made 350whp with an 9.8 with my current mods plus GSC S2's.

Just find a dyno that reads high..... It would be better if your goal was some sort of mph in the 1/4. I'd guess you're looking for about 114-116.

I'd predict closer to 110-112 mph and around 320 dynojet.

Yes. You are talking about adding a turboback, cams, a bigger FMIC and pump only. Those big cams are going to outperform smaller ones up top but by then you are going to be hard into boost taper with the stock 9.8 turbo. The IC pipes don't really add anything, nor does the BOV at a pump gas boost level, and your exhaust isn't a super high flowing one.

I'm just trying to be realistic. If you push it to the edge, anything is possible, but I think 320 would be what you'd see with 22 psi. The 10.5 hot side would push you to 330-ish. When my car had 328 whp on a dynojet it ran 112 at the track. I would use the manifold and O2 housing now. They aren't that hard to install at home if you have tools.

350 is quite a bit for an 03-04 turbo on pump gas. I would not set expectations there, but making it a goal is fine.

thnx yall for the info. i may slap that manifold and o2 housing on before i dyno.
I know my exhaust tapers after the cat but it is still a 75mm exhaust. Most of exhaust are 76mm. I didnt realize the HKS Carbon-Ti system was "that"restirctive. eitherway 320-ish isnt bad. im a good driver so on the track i will make that 320 do whatever it is intended to do. I will more than likely stay with the 9.8 unless i find a good deal on a ix turbo. At least that way I can send it in for the RED upgrade

If i do make 320-330whp what kind of E.T and trap numbers should i look for? (Driver Mod was installed years ago with a GVR4)
