To Stroke or Not to Stroke
#84
I bought my Evo with a 2.3L and bb 50 trim. If you are going stroker, don't waste your time on anything smaller than a 54 lb/min turbo. I personally will upgrade to at least 65 lb/min. This 50 trim with .63 housing makes 356 tq at 4700 and 351 hp at 5700 on a mustang dyno. HP drops to 320 at 7200. The car has stock head with HKS 264/272 cams. The turbo just can't keep up with the 2.3 and you can feel it.

On the automatic the benfit is two fold since the added torque also gets you higher up on the converter making more boost, but that conversion is unlikely to interest anyone here.

has anyone de-stroked an engine? Like with the principals of a formula 1 racecar? make the pistons not move far at all, but move a lot? seems like you would rev REALLY high that way and make good power and torque? i might be way wrong, just seemed cool and didnt know if anyone had done it or even looked in to it
