Let me claify, IM NOT DISSING THE 35R. I love the 35R and i WAS seriously eyeing one until the RED came out. What im saying in regards to power, that on a full bolt on car this turo can make pretty close to 500whp. We have already seen what this turbo has done on an all-out buschur car on race gas (530-ish i think. i gotta find the thread again). If you just made 530ish on your RED and you want more then the 37R may be your next step instead of the 35R. to me if you already have a RED with a built motor and want more power then the 37R is the way to go.
This is just a comparison/debate/informative thread on two great turbo options that we have.

heres a simple way to look @ it
FP RED:
Non built just basic boltons & what not 440-480 MAX!
Build the motor and u might get over 500 hp
HTA35R:
Boltons non built 480-520
Build the motor 480-700
How can you compare a turbo that maxes out @ 520 or so to a big turbo that maxes out @ about 700 whp???
I know what your trying to do tho ur trying to see which turbo is the best to make 500 hp like most other people in here. My advice is u wanna go cheap to make that power get the FP Red, but if 1 day u wake up and say i want 550 there is no turning up the boost like u can on a 35r to make that

AGAIN my opinion but I feel that if u plan for a motor build go 35R or better. If not, FP RED or "lower". So far, the power is just too close on a stock block for the price difference.
Eitherway, Im glad that the RED is for and not everyone else. I feel even better knowing that the only other car that i would have to be concerned with from a dig is ANOTHER EVO

Hi,
If it's you Derek posting, nice to see you on here as well,if it's your partner posting and it's you who is getting the red, then man give Derek my regards.
As far as the red bolting on,the only that you need is the boost pipe(the black pipe with the flange that is connected to the cold side of the turbo, the compressor, and on it's other side leads to a hose that is connected to the intake intercooler pipe),you don't need the water and oil lines as you can bent slightly the existing ones to adjust them to the turbo.
I even used the viii boost pipe by cutting the flange of it and welding it in onother angle so as to match it with the green.
This is if the car is a VIII if it's a IX then it's a straight bolt on.
cheers,
Marios(4g638-MLR)

I have a mismatch in flanges on the downpipe to exhaust joint that will take a few days to have modified and TIG'd into matching up, and some AEM map changes to get the transition from the 35R maps to the new maps in shape, then I should be ready for startup again. I made a few more changes to the system than just the turbo swap, so the small things slow you down, sometimes. Work gets in the way of car modding sometimes, too...
As far as the smiley faces, well, that's just anticipation There will be more when the car fires up...

Since this thread was retarded to begin with, but I happened to stumble upon this video of a relevant race, I thought I might post it here.
-Two 2.0 Evo VIIIs
-Full Race twin scroll 35R vs. FP Red. Most are familiar enough with Evodan2004's setup to know that besides the turbo kit, it's a pretty mildly built car.
-35R is on pump, Red is on E85 (huge fuel advantage)

I rest my case.
