We have already seen what this turbo has done on an all-out buschur car on race gas (530-ish i think. i gotta find the thread again). If you just made 530ish on your RED and you want more then the 37R may be your next step instead of the 35R. to me if you already have a RED with a built motor and want more power then the 37R is the way to go.

This is just a comparison/debate/informative thread on two great turbo options that we have.
Well since the evo is the 8 sports car I have owned I fell the same way. I only want to make 500whp and I don't push my car hard all the time so the FP red is the best choice for me. If I make 4:20whp on 93 I happy then with 100% meth then 500 is the way to go. I'm not trying to doing a motor build I'm trying to make big HP and keep the stock motor reliable.

Good debate guys but I think I'm sold on the simplicity and spool of the Red.

heres a simple way to look @ it

FP RED:

Non built just basic boltons & what not 440-480 MAX!

Build the motor and u might get over 500 hp

HTA35R:
Boltons non built 480-520

Build the motor 480-700

How can you compare a turbo that maxes out @ 520 or so to a big turbo that maxes out @ about 700 whp???

I know what your trying to do tho ur trying to see which turbo is the best to make 500 hp like most other people in here. My advice is u wanna go cheap to make that power get the FP Red, but if 1 day u wake up and say i want 550 there is no turning up the boost like u can on a 35r to make that

I think this turbo is what a lot of people been looking for! Doesn't make sense to do a 35r unless you build you motor and rev to 10million rpms. imo. and the only comparison of the two would be on pump with stock engine. How about a 30series turbo VS. the red.

Great point but ive personally seen many stock block 35R powered evos NOT make 500whp. I would still think that on stock block and 93 the RED would def spool up a lot faster too. I think the diff of the two is really seen on built motors. REALITY is that there are prolly more stock block 35R evos out here than built. I would also say that there are more reg 35R's out there than HTA35R's. A quick spooling, stock looking turbo, for less than 2k, and can make 450whp+, is a winner in my book all day long. I wouldnt say its a CHEAP way to go. I just think that its a very cost effective way to go. AGAIN i like both turbos but 1799 vs 3499 says a lot to me, especially if on stock block im losing 30whp but gaining quicker spool-up(using your numbers). Even more, if we are both leaving the SHELL gas station after pumping 93 and we just happen to end up next to eachother at a stoplight. I dont wanna hear, "wait till I build my motor and turn up that boost".

AGAIN my opinion but I feel that if u plan for a motor build go 35R or better. If not, FP RED or "lower". So far, the power is just too close on a stock block for the price difference.

Eitherway, Im glad that the RED is for and not everyone else. I feel even better knowing that the only other car that i would have to be concerned with from a dig is ANOTHER EVO

As far as the red bolting on,the only that you need is the boost pipe(the black pipe with the flange that is connected to the cold side of the turbo, the compressor, and on it's other side leads to a hose that is connected to the intake intercooler pipe),you don't need the water and oil lines as you can bent slightly the existing ones to adjust them to the turbo.

I even used the viii boost pipe by cutting the flange of it and welding it in onother angle so as to match it with the green.

This is if the car is a VIII if it's a IX then it's a straight bolt on.

cheers,
Marios(4g638-MLR)

Hi Marios,

One more question

Do other vendors carry this RED turbo or do I have to order it online from FP?

Thanks,
Derek

Fp and buschur are selling them. Don't know if anyone else is. But there is a waiting list.

As far as the smiley faces, well, that's just anticipation There will be more when the car fires up...
Any review on the EvoRed?

Since this thread was retarded to begin with, but I happened to stumble upon this video of a relevant race, I thought I might post it here.

-Two 2.0 Evo VIIIs
-Full Race twin scroll 35R vs. FP Red. Most are familiar enough with Evodan2004's setup to know that besides the turbo kit, it's a pretty mildly built car.
-35R is on pump, Red is on E85 (huge fuel advantage)

I rest my case.
