Well, Roly is still human (at least that what I've heard from close sources ) and as long that you have the right setup/formula, you could make your evo run at least high 9's on this turbo. Hell, there's a guy that made 560+whp on his 2.3 stroker evo with a red.

I believe that with the right weight and driver, he could also make it to the low 10's - high 9's area for sure.

I swear some drivers make me wonder if there's some kind of underground mitsubishi cyborg program under development

We would be happy (at least at first) with a 10 second pass on a street car, near full weight with a stock FMIC for example.

This will be the first step for the test car at least.

Whats the red look like on a lightly modded car though, on low boost is what im wondering. Most people dont even think about running more boost when they change turbo's. I like to know all aspects of both these turbo's ;p

Man I'm so confused now. My HTA35r will be done in 2 days on stock block with rod bolts and dual springs and retainers in the head with kelford cams. I will be running this turbo on 93. I can get E85 where I live and if I went with the red turbo on E85 it looks like I would be making the same power as the 35r but with more torque, less lag, and cheaper. Oh well I will just go with the HTA35r for now and switch to the red if I'm not happy.

I'll tell you why I decided to try something different. There are a few 35Rs in the 9s. There's a Green in the 9s. There are a number of 35Rs in the 10s. There are Greens (and probably stock Evo IX turbos) in the 10s. In point of fact, not one in 100 Evos is running under 11.5 right now, no matter what turbo they've bolted on... It's a combination of matched parts that makes a car fast, not just the turbo of choice, and your choice needs to match your range of intended uses.

The Red will be much easier and more pleasurable to drive than a 35R for 90% of what non-dedicated race cars are used for. It comes on boost much quicker, which means it will not be as hard to launch, less likely to bog, and its transient response will be much quicker below 4200 or so, when most 35Rs are just starting to build significant boost (at sea level -- higher up here). The area under the curve favors the Red below 5500 as well, although an HTA35R does better than a normal 35R in that comparison.
Well said your post makes an excellent point for all those that arn't chasing peak numbers but are after the fun factor - area under the curve and drivability is very important to many of us...

Mellon, I think I'm going to have to come and bring you some business soon! I noticed you said you haven't gotten to tune a red yet, so maybe we'll be able to work something out!

ur hta35 will not loose power like the red will at the top end. IF you rev your car to like 8500rpms you will see a big diff in power between the red and hta35.

I want one bad but am afraid the purple will come out months later LOL.

Well that and I don't want to take my green off then take a loss for it to get another turbo like it
