Do you need someone there whose done it before, or are they enough "how-to's" and manuals floating around that you could do it on your own?

how good are you with a wrench?

i did it by myself the first time and it wasnt that hard. i also dropped teh k-frame which makes it A LOT easier to do.

have you done any major repairs or service on cars before?

Did you wrap your induction pipe with exhaust wrap?

Anytime I get a bunch of my friends together like that, we end up getting drunk and nothing gets accomplished.

So we pulled the tranny off Sunday.(8hr job on my garage) Thanks to Barry and Jon once again!!! not to mention it was Barry's bday party that day in my house

This time we put an ACT clip (set) and 5 ACT wavy springs
We even compared it from the Exedy and it seems like the ACT set is much better and stiffer springs!

I've been granny shifting since monday .....

my 1st clip(exedy) the broke 3 weeks ago
When you installed the clutch initially how many wavy washers did you put on the ring(1st broken clip)? What about when you did the second install, how many wavy washers were on the second clip which broke?

Where have you been able to purchase wavy washers and the clips? I'm about to put my trans back in and want to add a couple washers for security sake.

simple solution= buy push style clutch. The problem with the clutch is not fixed by adding more washers. As long as the spring is put in properly to begin with. It is a problem with pushing the pressure plate spring too far. You will fix the problem with this style clutch with a clutch stop. I know the feeling I pulled clutches out left and right trying to figure out the problem.

Wathever washer you buy..please don't mix it up like what I did 2 exedy+2ACT clips 3 weeks ago...coz they don't seat at each other right. Now I have 5 all ACT clips

Adding wavy washers will help. Also don't extend your rods that far so the fork doesn't have to travel back so much.
I love my Exedy twin...it never slips it grabs like a **** once you released the pedal. its just the stinking clip that keeps breaking.
The 1st clip was there for 20k miles then the 2nd one is from friends OEM with 38K miles.

With the right tools and good instructions I'm sure I can do it. It's the good instructions I'm not sure about. I don't like to just "dive-into" big jobs like that. My Evo is my daily driver, so I can't afford to take it apart, then not get it back together.
