I still would like to see the dyno plots, because the peak values he posted and their relevant rpms do not make any sense. Something is definitely wrong with this car.
I agree that something is wrong with the car. I had a hard time trying to understand what he was talking about as well, and I was there. I'll grab copies of the dyno off the computer at the shop tomorrow.

Ok, then I'm just lost . Then, it is something else going on that's causing the knocks.

The turbo doesn't matter - it's still an VIII motor that doesn't have the coolant passages in the head, which allow IXs to run more boost on pump than normal. Matt apparently didn't set the boost as high as the OP was saying, so it's not relevant anyway.

^True that! The head doesn't flow as good as the IX's cuz of the coolant passages.

No, the coolant passages are not relevant to flow, but rather knock resistance.

Thanks,

Lol this is so old I was like who posted that under my name...

As for the issue car I think it was just to aggressive of a tune. I drove it 10 hrs to Ohio on the tune to the Buschur Shoot Out 08 and couldn't get better than a 13sec pass. I had it dyno'd down there and it put down 288/288 where up here it put down 330hp/290 ft lbs I think. I was putting down good 60ft times in the 1.6 range but power just dissappeared at 5k.

When I came back home I had Jack of Trades or Jamie help me road tune it. He walked me through it and showed me some more stuff to help me. We just started from scratch and the car pulled 10 times better with it holding power up top. Now I do all my own tuning using Ecu flash and a innovative wideband but Ill be making the switch to zeitronix.

I ran it like 2 months ago and I got it to 12.3 consecutively. I was up at New England dragway for test and tuning at night. I was spinning all through first. I have some videos I try and get up.

I was trapping 115 mph with 1.8 60ft times. Next time I will dropping my tire pressure and using NLTS with the addition of meth also and a new tune. So I should see the 11's. Also will be going up during the day. heh

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Was the timing and/or boost to agressive causing knock which pulled timing?

Yah it was mainly the timing curve. Boost was around 24 psi before and after. Its weird because on the dyno he said it kept knocking when it shouldnt have so he pulled a lot of timing but I guess not in the right areas.

Its wasnt the tuner's fault if I remember right he was working off a dyno flash tune that was in the car when i bought it. We should have started fresh but its not my dyno just my money.
