Rattle from Megan DP

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem with thier Megan DP rattling. I have an '06 IX MR and I resently installed the Megan DP, Megan Test pipe, and Greddy Evo 2 exhaust. I seem to be getting a ratting noise from the DP hitting the front sway bar. (I do have the correct model installed, so that is not the problem)

Also, it only starts to rattle after the car has heated up...

Anyone have any advice for me to correct the problem. It's gretting really annoying! Thanks!

The front lower tie bar I had to remove because it wouldn't fit, but was able to keep the second (rear) one with a good amount of clearance. But, when I get under the car to take a look at what it might be rattling against, it looks like it has to be the sway bar becuase it is pretty close to it.

Ok. By adjust... do you mean bend them? Because that is what I was thinking I might have to do. I just don't know what to use to accomplish that. They seem very strudy.

all tie bars should fit. I have that dp and all bars fit like stock. You bought it used or new?

I bought it new... That's strange that yours was able to fit both tie bars. I am pretty sure everything is bolted up right. Kinda hard to screw up bolting on a DP...

By adjust I think he means to loosen the bolts so you can move/adjust the downpipe, there should be no need to bend it to get it to work. I have the same one and it was hitting at first and I adjusted it and it worked fine.

BEST fix is by adding small washers on the back side of the sway bar to lower it just a tiny bit to give you the clearance.

Um, the sway bar is actually ABOVE the DP. By adding washers, it would just make it worse. Maybe you are thinking about the tie bars...

Are you sure it's not the test pipe... I've developed a annoying rattle sound since I've had mine installed... I only hear it on decel and if I rev the motor high at idle, sounds very raspy too...

I'm probably going to buy another test pipe because this one is not to my liking...

I had this exact same problem with the exact same car and the exact same downpipe. You have to add washers on the crossbar that hangs close to the downpipe. You can also take them off and heat them up then squish them with a hammer but they might rust. The washer trick worked perfect for me.

My tie bars wouldn't fit cause on the 3" diameter of the pipe so I just bent them very slightly to get them to fit. But I have no rattles.

This sounds like it is the test pipe baffle failure. We have had problems in the past with the Megan Test pipes blowing out the baffle and causing a rattle. If you purchased it new from a Megan Racing dealer then you should contact them and see if they will replace it. I have replaced a few that failed under warrantee.

I have a baucher exhaust from the turbo back and i have the rattle to i just havent got around to fixing it but my 2 tie bars on the bottom are up tight against my exhaust and it rattles between those bars and my floor. Washers would be the answer..
