I am glad that I sort of helped some of you decide to go Amsoil. I will say that I still love the “new” feel to my Evo. Like I said it is not like I dropped a bolt on in but I can see, feel, and hear a difference in the car.

Oil Doc, I am pretty straight forward about things on my likes or dislikes and what I think of products and such. I was prepared to come here and say that I put the oil in and am waiting to see a difference or to ask if you need a dyno to tell the difference. Like I said I have seen others mention a difference but it seemed like something that made me think “yeah okay I’ll see for myself”. Well I tested it out and right after I changed it I took it for a short drive to get things flowing. Right off the bat I noticed smoother shifting and slightly more pull. The next day was when I noticed the real difference (things were more settled in I guess from the short drive).

Since then I have been recommending Amsoil to everyone I work with though none of them drive anything that can even be compared to the Evo. I am totally sold on the product. If I had not noticed the difference in my car as much as I had I would have just accepted that Amsoil was better. But I feel a difference and can say it has to be better due to the response I feel in the car. Of course I have to have kind words for you as well because you helped me to pick the right oils for my car and area. I was thinking before with all the PMs I had sent you that you might be getting tired of hearing from me but you were always there to respond with an answer to my question. When people are willing to help and answer so many questions I feel they should be thanked.

As I mentioned I had the stuff sitting around at work already. We threw it in this afternoon...car shifts like hot butter. Honestly any type of "notchy" feeling I had when shifting gears is totally gone now. I wouldn't consider what I was having before today a problem at all. It felt normal and I just accepted it as such. With the Amsoil in there now I swear you feel a difference the first time you drive. And I'm not talking about getting on it real quick either...I'm talking normal driving down the road.

Forgot about the tranny... Sorry..

AMSOIL MTG for the EVO Trannies...

As for the 20W-50 in the engine.. If running a Petroleum oil for some reason, fine.. If you are running AMSOIL, Probably not necessary unless you are running loose clearances and tracking for an hour or more without cool down, 20W-50 is probably too high a viscosity. It costs you HP to use it.

AMSOIL has a 1400 HP 2.3 that ran on the Salt Flats with AMSOIL AMO 10W-40

Are you referring to Bore, my engine builder said it is .24 overbore?

Currently, using mobile 15w-45.

thx.

By radically loose he's talking about your clearances specifically the clearances on the crank. Most motors are built with stock clearances which would mean you need a thinner oil to get between them. If the oil was too thick you could starve a bearing.
