CAI causing drivability problems?

I was looking to pick up a CAI for my EVO 8. Recently a buddy of mine told his CAI causes the car to sputter and act weird when hitting bumps and other various times while driving around town. Has anyone ever heard of this or had similar problem? It's and AEM if that makes any difference. Are there any gains of going from stock air box to CAI on these cars?

Seriously no one has any input at all on intakes? I tried to do a search but this forum appears to have a jacked up search feature. That and to many people seem to think a lancer is the same thing as a lancer evolution from the looks of it.

Conical intakes usually throws off the m.a.f. To actually make use of the new intake, you have to get your car tuned for it.

That actually makes scense. My last car/cars were all MAP so they were able to take advantage of a CAI. Will it cause any driveability issues at all putting a Conical intake on? Stumbling, bogging, anything out of the ordinary.

You will encounter problems by installing an intake without tuning for it...when I installed my intake my rpms would drop almost to 0 if I were to suddenly engage the clutch mostly in 1st gear...kinda annoying.

I think APS makes a CAI for the 2003-2004 EVO's.

Sorry guys I should have been more specific, AEM short ram intake. I'm so use to terming intakes as CAI, that I just got ahead of myself.
