I always thought you wanted the 9 first gear and the 8 4th gear.

That's what i have in my car and love it.

Cross the traps right at 8500 rpm in 4th.

One thing to remember about the clutch selection though is that the QM does not have sprung hubs on the discs.

Check with AMS for their conversion if you want to stick with the Exedy though i'd bet that's a slick set-up for cars that see more street duty than track.

i have the evo8 4th gear. i beleave i am keeping it. i spoke to shep today and he said to leave it. but we are going to talk further on this on why not to upgrade to a longer 4th.

the 1st gear ''evoIX'' i was told is a good mod but it depends on the setup and use of the car as he said when you swap the IX 1st gear in other stuff must change.

as for the clutch. i wouldent mind the push style conversion AMS offer's but for a few 100 more i can get the QM twin that is allready push style and brand new. and rumor has it its stronger and last longer. i have 35k on my exedy twin now so i think im doing well with alot of street beatings and alot of launching and drag passes.

as for the feel for DD lol i dont mind what the QM will do. my car has enough ''ill deal with its'' going on whats another one. hahaah

Yes that's corrrect as i have a 9 so the 8 4th gear went into my tranny.

If not a gear change into 5th would be necessary right before you cross the finish line killing et/mph.

Sorry to hear about this my man. Im still on the stock drivetrain stuff but have dealt with TRE for all my Diaqueen purchases and he is a really cool *** guy to deal with and will likely get my buisness when the time comes.

I was in an Evo with a TRE trans and the thing shifted sooooo sweet

rebuild the exedy, go with the ultimate ratio setup for the trans, and i see no need to go with a quafe in the t-case

sorry to hear about your misfortune Dan. I'm confident you'll get her back on the road stronger and MUCH FASTER. We don't like breaking stuff....but all part of the game. You've had great luck so far.
