well 90% of the time i have to look elsewhere, everytime i search for something around the evom forums i always run into irrelivant info, or old threads with deleted pics and 90 pages of argumentation for either opinion, or maybe a moderator just got fed up at his gf for dumping him, so he closed it for no reason other than to feel like he has some control over his life and others... anyways.
i took that extra screen and put it in the new painted maf and heres what it looks like:
do you think this will work?

That thread that I posted has alot of good info. Boosted pointed out that the GM MAF is actually designed that way. I didnt know that. Also many ppl have had good success with that blow through system.

Lol manufacturers try so many different things! Id say that you could use that screen you added, it all comes down to tuning.
How much do you think removing that screen can give you power wise?
Probably not much.

as far as the screen goes i dont care either way, the fact that im using a larger diameter MAF than stock will free up whatever restrictions that could have been in the flow path is good enough for me. at this point im more concerned about achieving daily drivability, as this has always been a key concern for me whenever i have decided to mod my car.
i think after tonights reading im just going to try tuning without the screen first, then if i have issues with idling i'll try the screen.
now for the tricky part... tuning the MAF translator... something i am completely ignorant to. i might just let my tuner tackle that one. if someone could like PM me with any useful info on the MAF translator that would be awesome.

Either way Dave, it seems as tho there are people that have had good experiences using that MAF. Keep us posted
