stock clutch question.

ok i have 400whp/442tq on a mustang dyno. on stock clutch. i have over 60+ laucnhes at the track. 18k miles on the clutch. she still feels the same as teh day that i bought her.

i just ordered a fs635 and 1000cc injectors and plan on running one last time at the track this year. (then ill do the clutch over the winter.)

my question is ill be having alot more power now whats the worst taht happens does teh clutch just go out. or can i break something else if the clutch goes out?

i dont care if i the clutch goes this time at the track. Since i will trailer the car home and i planned on doing the clutch anyways.

i just dont have time before the last event of the year to do the clutch.

(im overseas and only going to have 3 days to install turbo and tune it)

so what else can be damage if the clutch gives out? im assuming since the cltuch will go before teh TC or transmiision?

Youll be fine unless it shatters apart and takes out the tranny

I am curious on the mustang dyno you went, does this particular mustang dyno reads higher than other mustang dyno? B/C your clutch should not hold anymore.

i run 27psi on 114 octane. everyone cries in town that it reads low. but i think its average i have nothing to compare too. first time on a mustang. ive always been on a dyno dynamics but its the only place in town that has an awd dyno.

i put down 340hp on a dyno dynamics at "The shop in CT" when al did my car a while back on pump gas at 23psi. so im asssuming at 27psi on race gas and AMS FMIC and intercooling plumbing upgrade that its very possible to pick up 60whp.

now if the clutch shatters like what kind of dmg can it do to the tranny? like i said the clutch is been holding very well. but i think with the new turbo that it might not hold much longer.

only time i ever beat on the car is at the track. 7-9 laucnches a night once a month for the last 2 years.

That's a lot of launches...mine started slipping after 5 or 6 launches...pretty much gone after that.

he said why replace it yet if its not gone.

i plan on replacing and know it will need to be replaced for the more power but i dont have time to do it before the last event of the year. basically i dont care if it goes out on me i just want to run a few more times down the drag strip.

so my question was what type of damage can be done besides the clutch going. so i can weigh the risks.

It'll likely start slipping and finally get to a point where it isnt very driveable. Not causing any damage just put a new kit in machine the Flywheel and go

Now If you think about how a clutch goes into a car than you could assume that if it shattered or exploded then it could potentially damage the tranny casing itself and or the input shaft

You'll prolly be fine. Chances are it will just start slipping and youll just have a damn hard time racing with it like that, lol. I doubt youll blow up the tranny tho. You said it still grabs like it did, well once it starts to slip then just stop racing. Until then go beat on it! See how much more power itll hold!

If it gets completely destroyed, you'll end up having to replace the flywheel as well. Might not be a problem, if you want a light weight one.

i planned on putitng new clutch fly wheel combo in. i just figured it would start to slip then i would stop if it got real bad. but i was more worried if some freak accident happened and it shattered or something what would happen.

i guess i was more worried about tranmission or TC problem if the clutch exploded.

If anybody on this site had any idea of what the **** would happen to your clutch next weekend, they would be picking stocks not giving clutch advise
