timing belt-like noise
so i just bought an 05 mr with 19000 miles on it. whenever im in second gear or higher and the rpm is above 2k, i hear this weird noise that sounds like its a bad timing belt, but i dont think it is, heres why. it doesnt increase in noise or frequency when i gas it, it just stays until i come to a stop or am in first gear. any idea on what it could be?

nope, the noise stays the same, doesnt get louder or higher frequency at all with the increase of speed or rpm. i thought it was the timing belt at first, so i opened the hood and reved it a bit and it sounded fine

well the car is stock. soudns liek its coming from the engine bay. and the noise doesnt get louder as i speed up or give it gas. its almost like a squeaky noise, kind of like a bad timing belt but not as bad. im having trouble describing it.

nothing electrical, it's definetly coming from the engine bay. It almost sounds like a cricket making noise. Doesn't change in volume or pitch. Could it be my belts or pulleys? Possibly the tensioner?

true, ive heard of some other members having this problem, and they say its the serpentine belt or timing belt possibly being glazed. could that be it? cause the problem isnt obvious when the car starts up. if so, how much would it cost to replace belts and pulleys? and in the meantime ill try and make a video of it

Well with only 19k miles I wouldn't think the belts would be going bad yet, but anything is possible.
Make that video and up it here so we can see and hear it and maybe get a better idea.
But the dealership should let you know what's wrong.

My timing belt makes a LOT of noise. Sounds like the motor is knocking. The first cold day I ran my car, I thought I had spun a bearing until I noticed the sound coming from under the cam gear cover. It goes away when the car is warm.
