HKS 272 Cams? or FMIC?
I don't get it. Have you had your car tuned yet? Your sig says Mellon tune. Has it been on a dyno? You should already be 330-350whp with those mods in your sig. Cams will help, but you should be able to reach about 350whp without them on an IX.

Just take your local gas with you. You want to be tuned on your local gas.

But he has a 9, he doesn't need bigger injectors unless he gets a bigger turbo. He could throw a fuel pump on there if he really wanted. Cams shouldn't be necessary for his 350whp goal either. If he wants 370-380 then ya cams.

I bought the car as it sits right now from a buyer in Nebraska. He had it tuned by Mellon on a 91 map. So, when I bought the car I contacted Mellon to discuss the tune and he just said it's a conservative 91 Oct tune @ 22 psi probably putting out around 300 whp. So, I just took that for what it was, and we have all 93 Oct here in Ohio, so I figured with 93 Oct and a few minor mods I can gain 50 more whp. make sense?

Look at his sig. He should be pretty close to that with a Mellon tune

Absolutely. Take it to Buschur and you'll be at 350whp all day (well, on a dynojet). It will read much lower on his Mustang dyno, but you get the idea... If you're sticking with the stock ECU to tune, maybe take advantage of one of Al Dynoflash's trips to Buschur for tuning. Al's tuned both of my Evo's with a ton of success. But you also can't go wrong with a Buschur tune, either.

Also, when I added Cosworth cams and a Buschur intercooler to my IX, it only went from 355whp to 378whp. An IX without cams is a really reliable, safe, daily driver. Not that cams make the car unsafe, but they do affect driveability a little.

i wouldn't worry so much about peak horsepower. a nice fat powerband is what you should be concerned with. buschur will get you that but i dont think you will make 350awhp on his dyno.

well I'm looking for reliable, safe, daily driver(even though it's mostly garaged), no need for unwanted problems. So maybe just a FMIC and the 02 housing, and take it up to Buschur?

The O2 housing will help, but isn't as necessary on an IX. The 02 install is a little onf the difficult side, compared to the rest of the bolt-on mods. The intercooler will definitely help. With all those mods (with or without the O2 housing), you're going to be all set.

how much power will you lose from having a high flow cat instead of a test pipe?
