i bought a quartermaster twin plate clutch for my evo
i should have it by the end of the week and installed over the weekend
ive been told i have to "break it in" but what is the best way to do this?
any advice would be appreciated

i ve "heard" just run it hard. My friends evo got a new clutch put in and the car got put on the dyno right after the install the tuner said the best way to break it in is to run it hard.. not sure if thats true but the car still runnin good

You don't need to break in a quarter master you can launch it right after install if you want to you'll see once you get it installed its somewhat aggressive at first then becomes easier to drive on once the clutch has some miles on it

My exedy twin disc feels the same after a few thousand miles and tons of lauches as it did the day it was put in...although i do have to admit i took it pretty easy on it for a couple of days

Just drive it how you would normally would. If it was me, i'd put a couple hundred miles on it before I launched to let it bed down with the other components, but thats just my physcological thinking, lol

everyone's different. If it doesnt come with instructions from the manufacturer then I wouldnt think its gonna make a bit of difference

you better talk to the manufacture who makes the clutch to find the correct answer. Saying "just run it hard" isn't always the answer because not every clutch is the same.

If its a metalic-type disc you can usually start to beat on it right from the start. but, if its an organic-type compoud you'll want to bed everything in for a thousand miles of street driving before you start to really heat it up, otherwise you will DRASTICALY reduce its life.

I am not sure what quartermaster requires as a break-in...However-
I know with an exedy twin disc the recommended break-in period is 500 street miles, not going above 4,000 RPM's.

I am in the process of installing an exedy twin disc right now- good luck with your install

im not rly sure exactly what is required
ive heard a few different things
guess i will have to wait till i get it installed and see what the manual says
or maybe input from someone with one...

hmm..i just got my act clutch and rre flywheel put in.what the guys at speed element was saying was to put 500 miles then beat on it,but tis not a twin plate.they said i could boost,just not launch..

does anyone know if i need to re-adjust the clutch pedal after the breakin period?

u might, might not. depends really ull be able to tell if it locks out at high rpm, then adjust it out.

mike i put MAYBE 100 miles on my act before i started to beat on it, held great.
