First oil change.. used 5 quarts.. am I okay?

Hey guys,

I did my first oil change (myself) tonight and used a full 5 quarts of oil.. Now I've read a few different things regarding the amount of oil to use.. The best I read was 4.8q ..

Will I be okay or should I crack the drain bolt and let .2qts (.28L) out??

Someone give me some piece of mind

Thanks!!!

My dipstick drives me nuts. Sometimes after i put in 4qts, the dipstick is above the 2nd dot cold or hot.

check it cold, it should be at the high mark. Make sure you're on a level surface too. Crack the drain bolt, let a little drip out little at a time then check the dipstick again.

You're fine. A full oil change with filter is 4.8. That extra .2 in your sump isn't enough to drown your crank case and cause cavitation from bubbling.

OK that's weird then. When my buddy and I did my oil change. I'm pretty sure we used a 5 quart jug of Moble 1 and it was still low on the stick. Perfectly level garage (he does corner weighting in it). He's an evo owner also and he didn't seem to think it was odd. We filled the oil filter with oil before installing if that makes any difference.
