Sorry, just trying to help others as well as myself get the most out of there
T-cases. There are things people can do to make them last longer. It may not make a huge difference, but if I can make my T-case last even just a extra month then I feel it's worth it.

Yea it really depends on the driver like GinNBoost said. I like to live by these standards too though for a daily driver:

- Upgraded motor mounts (so when you launch theres less chance of wheel hop)
- Avoid wheel hop all together if possible
- When changing fluid, make sure to get as much OEM TC oil in there as you can. Then go for a drive, and fill it up some more.
- Leave clutch line restrictor in

Preloading the drive train will help the TC live longer.

Not always true. While many autocross course designers try to design a turn out of the gate before the first timing beam to eliminate the "need" to launch, sometimes they don't, and it's definitely worth some lap time, so people do launch on those occasions.

But yes, everything mentioned is very important, especially if you have an open front diff like me (for now). I just rotated my tires this morning actually, even though I didn't think it would be necessary. Once off, sure enough, the inside fronts were a LOT more worn than thew fronts. So make sure you stay on top of this!

Can you describe what it sounds like? I am trying to find out what noise is coming from my car.

How long do Tcases normally last? (on normal driving conditions)

Every time you lift off the throttle above 3k rpm in any gear above 2nd, it will sound like marbles rolling around in a can. It will be loudest in 3rd and 4th gear. Coincidentally, a normal TC will make the same noise during downshifts or just lifting off the throttle but isn't as loud and doesn't carry on while the engine revs down.

My 03 Evo never had a good transfer case. The last one I had in the car I babied it and got ~18k miles and the entire 18k miles it sounded like ***.

If you are going to launch the car, pull up the emergency brake and then let the clutch out just enough to preload the driveline before you release the clutch completely. Slip the clutch a little as you let it out, so you don't put a huge amount of strain on the transfer case. That will save most of the stress on the driveline and make the transfer case last a lot longer.

The funny part is that lifting the E-brake disengages the ACD.. I wonder how that affects the T-case..

When I talked to shep about my blown T-case I was told that the ACD operation was more than likely the cause for the failure. (broken input to carrier) When the system see's excess wheel spin it applies the clutches to compinsate, on a hard launch where you get good wheel spin it locks the clutches quickly and puts a ton of strain on the carrier. That extra shock is what took out mine that's why I'm going to a quaife!

if you replace the rear trail arm bushings and the rear diff busshings with a polyurethane or billet bushings you can beat on ur car all you want! it stops the wheel hop and the agressive slam on the t-case. i didnt buy my evo to drive it like a grandpa...i have probably 200 passes on my car this year and still running strong on an 05 lsd...all the bushings are about 150
