kinks, or making sure it doesn't dip down below the inlet on the center section of the turbo and then back up. You won't get oil flow to the turbo that way

Actually the oil system is a positive pressure oiling system so even if the line dips below the banjo bolt on the turbo CHRA it will still get oil. Yes check for kinks in the line. Also the OP stated that he purchased a used turbo, was it checked for shaft play? Any amount of axial shaft play is unacceptable if I am bolting on a used turbo. Radial shaft play should be within factory specs. What boost levels are you running? There are a lot of factors that would lead to a failed turbo. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

I would pull the oil filter off and cut it open.

Turbos use a thin film of oil to suspend the shaft between the bearring. If you have metal in your filter from a motor build that didn't have the correct tollerences...than that could be the reason you are going through turbos in a relative short timespan.

Matt, dont feel bad. Most people, even "shops" don't catch potential problems until it is too late. Imagine how you would have felt if that had been a brand new turbo? You would have likely considered it to be defective for lack of a better idea.

Check this out. This is a BRAND FREAKING NEW Mitsubishi Motor Company oil feed line, straight out of a sealed plastic bag.

If this line had been installed instead of being very carefully inspected, it would have spit its flaky corrosion directly into the turbo bearings, and if that were not bad enough, the corrosion even partially blocks the already oil restrictor orifice built into the factory oil feed line.

I was about to make a new thread on this very topic when I saw you thread about a failure.

No reason for it to be in black and white, does it look like that? The newest lines are coming in as silver instead of gold, same thing for the color of the plating on WG actuators. It is a color pic, just not much color in a silver oil feed line This was a problem for a guy on the norcal board a few weeks ago, he had a chunk of this stuff in his thrust bearing.

Yea now that I look at it again I guess it's just the lighting.

You sure it wasnt a socal board member, they seem to be blowing up turbos at a uncommon pace. I haven't heard of a blowed up one in my neck of the woods...
