Mechanic put castrol gtx oil in my car >=[
I finally decided to do my timing belt at 65,500 miles. Its a great relief to have it done and I watched them as they did it and they did a good job. Did my water pump and pulleys as well. Costed an arm and a leg tho =[
But anyways to the point when they were done they changed my oil and it is a good thing I was there because they put castrol gtx oil in there and also a fram oil filter. I was pissed I mean that oil is not even synthetic!! But it was already late and I had been there for 5 hours so instead he just gave me back 20 dollars....
I have never driven so slow in my life. I was so scared to go into boost haha. Im gonna change the oil first thing in the morning.

From my understanding, putting regular oil in a motor that has already been running synthetic is a no no. Something about how it deteriorates the seals. I'm not an expert on it but I would change back to synthetic asap and make sure that you keep your receipt from the shop so that if something does happen you can have something to fall back on. Perhaps somebody else can chime in.

aww dont get you panties in a bunch, it will be O.K. just go to somewhere and pay the 70 bucks to get it changed. its going to be OK. just dont go to the track between now and then.

Saving the receipt wont matter if you took the $20. It means you acknowledge their mistake and were cool with it. Well that's old news. I wouldn't worry about it now. Its true you should not mix oil types but its not going to kill your motor but your turbo will hate you. One time wont hurt it but take it easy on it. Change it ASAP and make the oil change intervals a little closer for a while to get most of the residual oil out and you'll be cool.

i even told the shop not to worry about it and i would change it myself but damn they did it anyway. im pissed.
I seriously drove in 2nd gear all the way home at like 20 mph. Im changing it out in the morning. but if the turbo does go o well ive been wanting an fpgreen for a while now.

if you were watching them, you should have stopped them when you saw what they were doing. also, i would have made them drain it ASAP....but i do all my own maintenance, so i wouldn't have that problem anyway. like somebody said, do it yourself. takes less than 20 minutes, and you save an *** ton of money over the years.

if u guys read. i already had the car at the shop to do the timing belt so they decided to do the oil for me too. I always do my own oil just like i am gonna change it out right now.
and the reason i didnt stop them is because i wasnt paying attention til i saw them throw the bottles away.
o well live and learn i guess. I know now how to do a timing belt change so there should be no more reasons for anything to need to be done in a shop. Im pretty handy with a wrench well sometimes haha if not i know people who are but i didnt feel like wasting 8 hours doing a timing belt change

Just change the oil as soon as you get a chance. You can also do a flush when you put synthetic back in by running a quart or half a quart through before your put the drain plug back in.

I would have been furious.. especcialy since the oil cap says mobil 1 synthetic only..
would have made them drain it asap put the right stuff in and still given me some money off.. for the fear that there is still some in there and my seals will turn to ****..
poor service
