Stock intake hose flying off all the time!!!@!@!*@7!*@

okay so im getting irritated, my stock intake hose (the one that goes from the engine, rides alongside the battery, and then turns into the intake). Okay, so basically, it fell off when I first got the car... not a big deal, figured it just wasn't on very tight.

I put it back on, and it stayed on, for a good solid month... then it fell off again... Must be a faulty clamp... bought a new one, but it kept falling off.

Now, my hose is getting torn to shreds from being ripped out from underneath the clamp 30 times over the last year.

Anyway, is this a known problem? Does anyone know where I can get a new stock hose, or another hose that would work well as a replacement that isn't too expensive?

Does anyone know of another clamping mechanism, or anything, that will keep my new hose when I eventually get one from having the same problem?

I would get 2 worm clamps on the throttle body side of the UICP. One clamp in the regular spot. The second clamp I'd put it over the bead föhn on the TB. It worked for me. It never blew off after that.

i've actually done this as well and it worked...t-bolts look cleaner though...if u can get a hold of some...also tighten them down with a ratchet and not a screwdriver.

You should have some place local to get T-Bolt clamps. Don't limit yourself to just autoparts stores, as you can find these at most hose manufacturers...and you will save a bunch of $$$ by doing this for the same exact quality/higher quality clamps.

This company should have them. Not sure how far away Oakland is from you, but should be a good option.

Crazy. I use the factory clamp, tightened with a 1/4" drive ratchet and never once had a problem.

ive had the same problem. you just have to tighten them down extremely hard. T-bolt clamps will do a lot better job though!

With T-bolt clamps, make sure the hose makes a good seat before tightening the t-bolt clamp.

Okay, but one other thing, the end of the hose that is on the engine side, as i said in my first post, is kind of frayed... The rubber underneath is intact, but the hose is definitely not as tight on the engine as it used to be... Does it matter? Will the T-Bolt do the trick regardless?

Thanks!

I've been looking for something for ages, but never thought of a T-Bolt.

just like SloRice said, try putting hairspray on it...it really works! clean up the inside of the hose with some brakeclean and a rag then do the same on the intake side. put some of your favorite brand inside the hose and reattach, let dry and and BAM problem solved! this works fine for the diesel guys around here running 60-70psi of boost so i'm sure it will work for you!
