There is no back and white answer to that question

Of course, the better the VE of a particular set up the more you can press the boost on pump gas and avoid knock. I think that some of the optimized Buschur parts and engine combos approach 100% VE.

Fuel quality is also a huge criteria.

Finally there is more than one way to skin a cat when it comes to approaches to tuning, paricularly on the MIVEC cars.

With customers on the stock bottom end and pump gas, I generally would like to see them run 23 psi as a maximum on pump gas.

Those who want to press harder with pump gas, I usually suggest Aquamist methanol injection as an insurance policy against poor fuel which you can pick up at any time. One bad tank of gas and you can start having problems when you run super high boost. Injecting methanol helps level the playing field fron one tank of gas to the next and provide an additional margin of saftey.

At the end of the day, after give and take and discussion with the individual customer, I set the boost and tune to suit their needs and comfort for risk taking.

We are running 37 psi with pump and meth on Suman's car, he wants to take things to the limits.

Thanks for the reply. Do you still on stock IC?

at what rpm do you reach 26psi in 3rd gear?

I just carefully studied the graph, the spool is pretty slow, the HTA35R can spool about the same and make more power and torque at the same rpm.

correct me if I am wrong.

Looking at the graph, I agree.. A good HTA 35r kit looks like it will be within 500rpm spoolup with more headroom and efficiency to boot, BUT, the red is a stock appearing turbo, and does not require most of the expensive hardware generally needed with a turbo kit, and you have the reliability of the stock manifold..I think FP did an awesome job with the red, seems like the most you can squeeze out of our stock frame turbo which is exactly what I would want given the green is already another option..I want to get this red, slap everything I possibly can that is stock appearing back on the car, and bang out a 10 second pass on E85 with a car that looks stock right down to the exhaust..Mabye I am crazy but I think that would be an awesome feat to accomplish, nonetheless different then everyone elses setup.

The pull was started at 37-3800rpms. I think if it was taken a little earlier, even at 3000rpms, you would have seen a better ramp up.

We did a Evo IX yesterday with Stage IV (minus upper fmic pipe) and with a bad flowing "quiet" exhuast with a 90 degree bend into the muffler - the car easily made 490 whp with the Red turbo at 29 psi on pump and meth and ran really good on the road.

There will be some videos on my you tube Dyno Flash channel by Monday

so basically the red will get boost creep with open o2's and boost pressure between 20-25psi

i'm asking because i'm doing a red (replacing my green) on pump until spring when I may do some meth.

I'm running around 23-24 psi on pump with my green.

can someone run same boost pressure with pump on RED?

i'm confused why op client only wanted 20psi, was it creeping at -23-24psi too?
