HKS 264's
Hey All.
This is a question for all those with HKS 264's on both inlet & exhaust.
How did you guys & gals find them over factory? Did you make much power or torque?
Did the power band change much? Effect on spool up?
Was there ANY exhaust lope or change in exhaust note?
Regards,
Alex

I still got them. lol
I think stock cams are 252's. (not certain)
Pretty much gave me a fatter powerband throughout. Even more after getting tuned. Around 25-30whp.
Stock like idle.

264's are awesome for low end torque and good top end on a stock turbo. There is a huge difference over stock.
On a stock turbo you trade a little top end for better spool compared to 272's. I think they are the ideal auto-x cams when running a stock turbo. I've used them for years and love them. I actually have some for sale because I'm building my motor and need more airflow with a bigger turbo. Check my sig - they're cheap.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your input.
Im currently running the following mods on my evo 8;
-3" TBE
-Gruppe M Ram Air Intake
-Intercooler Piping Kit
-HKS EVC
-Walbro Fuel Pump
-Custom ECU Tune
With the above modifications Im running about 260whp @ 22psi.
Im hoping that the HKS 264's in addition to a retune will open it up a bit more.
Is the exhaust or intake note under idle & load any different?
Regards,
Alex

is there a reason why you are going with a 264 cam? I think most people would agree that if your going to do a cam set, do a cam set towards your future goal unless it's that radical...
SO many cams out right now...
GSC1, 272's, 280's, only to name a few!
GSC1's seem to be a great cam for stock turbo through a 35-37R!
Good luck on your choice

Well, Im also looking into a Comp Cam 280 Setup, but Im afraid it may be too agressive.
The car IS my daily, and I hit alot of traffic. Besides I REALLY want alot of midrange...
What do you think is more suited? The comp Cam 280's or HKS 264's.
What would suit my current mods better? Also, I want to try and minimise lag.

I'm very interested in this thread, mainly because I'm looking at the HKS 264 cams as well. But in CA, we only have 91 oct so I doubt it that I can get an increase of 30hp.
My car is a daily driver so I'm more interested if it's smog legal or not. I do not want to take the cams off for inspection and put it back on after inspection.
How about Tomie Poncams, what do you guys think about them?
