Question Stock Intake Mani VS. Other

I was just wondering why lately every fast evo i see running 10's or 9's still run

the stock intake manifold? I think David Buschur is running the stock intake manifold on his evo ?

Im on a BR 35 r, with a AMS intake mani.

Just wanted to know from Evo Gurus why people run the stock intake manifold!

Thanks Everyone!!!

Look up the Wilson / Indy V2 manifold. It's a stock manifold ported like a mother by WIlson manifolds, and performs better than most sheet metal intakes, even the AMS VSR by ~20whp on a 35r, and IIRC it made as almost as much power as the HKS Kansai ~ $2000

Plus you keep every idle feature so it runs smooth, and looks stock!

It costs like 1500+ though, but for such a great manifold it's well worth the cost compared to everything out there.

You should look at DI intake manifolds! Make more power than any sheetmetal manifolds out there. The price is very competitive. PM if your interested.

My car ran a 9.04 at 159.6 mph today. It is NOT cut up at all, has a full factory interior, 6 speakers, double DIN DVD/NAV/stereo, both working air bags, heater, door beams, door panels, factory glass etc., in other words a real street car, with a custom 35r on it. I run the Wilson V2 intake, which is a stock appearing modified stock intake. 9sec9 ran today, he made 2 runs on his new custom 35r and ran a 9.2 at 156 mph. Neither of these cars are cut up tin cans (yes, we own one of those too).

The price of the V2 is not cheap but it won't crack or fail in any other way and it produces the best power of the intake manifolds I have tested and I have tested quite a few.

VWJeff is running the V2 and so is Celica2EVO, both of those cars have also run in the 9's, full weight street cars with a/c and all.

I am not done with my intake testing. I have 2 more I will be testing in the months to come. It would be extremely difficult at this point to convince me to swap to something else though.

I made alot of power on a stock intake and talk about durability you can't beat that.
