Can my 500 WHP EVO VIII benefit from a 4.11 FD??

I would run a taller tire and see what numbers you start trapping then, I have seen FD gears take a beating so they will take the abuse but will your front diff or tranny hold. What are your trap speeds and in what gear.

Interesting read to a point.. keep in mind that many of the std jap cars are running ratios from say 3.53 to 4.11, many of the cars I owned in the '80-90's ran 3.73 to 3.91, the sports cars all ran 4.11 and that was the trick racing set up. The 4.57 in the Evo is an exception by far and adds the the quickness of the car at the expense of top end speed. I think the WRX even runs 3.91 ( I think i read that somewhere , not that it matters). If you want to knock some the cruising rpms down, and give the car some more leg room to run, 3.91 wouldn't be a bad selection and you wont be losing to mustangs either. As with all mods there are trade offs and opinions.
