EVO9 Turbo on a 240SX?
First off, I dont know what section this belongs in sense it has to do with Evo9 parts, but on a 240sx. Please move if in wrong section. Thanks
So, my buddy is a 240sx nut, he own like 4 first gen 240's , and was thinking about putting a Evo9 turbo on his DOHC 240sx. He knows alot about 240's and is custom making the manifold himself so it should fit. My idea is that if he can tune it right it should be a pretty awesome set up. I imagine that the 2.4L should spool that turbo extremely fast. I was just wondering if any of you had an opinion on the set up, or have had any first hand experiences. Any feed back would be awesome, good or bad. I'm going to be giving him a hand so if you guys are interested then i'll update as it goes. thanks in advance!

I have to dissagree, the big thing with 240's is to turbo KA's. On the 240sx forums, they have a whole catagorie just for turbo KA's. Granted, it was thought to be impossible for just any regular 240sx owner, but I've noticed with in the last year that alot of typical 240sx owners do it with out any major problems. Some people are argueing that the turbo KA my be better then a SR, because of the extra displacement, but right know it still is all opinion.

As a track car, what kind of psi do you think would be best. you think anything over 18psi would would have lag problems or do you have other concerns?

KA=SR
But if he's got 4 then he might as well do a KA-T an Sr20 an RB26 and an ls1

not completely true.....ka's have a 25% increase in displacement which limits its rev limit to 6000 whereas the sr can rev to 7500. the ka's create more low end torque than the sr20's but then again the sr20's make up for it by being able to rev out higher. I guess you could use a lower gear ratio and make up for the low end torque since the kas is engine torque rather than gear torque. so it really just depends on preference....

So you could say that the evo9 turbo is a perfect canidate far a Turbo KA project. I cant believe I never thought about that before. Thanks for that observation, I was starting to loose faith in the KA as soon as I realized how much lower it revs.
