A few pic's from my busted rear end

I was at the Norwalk with Dave, JaRRod, Tom, Trent, and Kevin. All while everyone was running 9.3's and faster in there Evo's (AZZHOLES) I was replacing a rear end

I figured I would share the pic's with everyone of what happens after 3 years of racing my car... I just figured an axle before this

My dog 9sec9 came through with lending me his rear end to get home Thanks Tom

It is a complete loss, I was gonna rebuild the rear end. I called the dealer and got a quote of $500 to rebuild it for parts and come to find out the VIII rear end is different from the IX's, I figured they where the same?... but the only way to get the parts at that price was if I give the parts manager a ride at the dealer He couldnt beleive the car went a 9.8 with EVERYTHING still in the car... A/C, ABS, Air Bags, seats and all while driving to the track and home again Then later apon inspection I found the cast iron housing was busted internally

Dont worry Tom I am on the search

That is one thing I had not really looked into for my build , is the rear end. 2 broke in a week here.

Is there anything availible that is truly stronger than the stock stuff????

Carbonetic makes a rear diff for the evo.. JohnEB has one in his Evo9. I'm trying to decide if i want to go that way or get another stock one..

Here is info from there website....
http://www.carbonetic.net/match/usa_lsd_mitsubishi.html

We have two in stock... I don't know if you have looked into them at all.. P.m. me if you want some more information.. (I don't want to step on anyone's toes... I just wanted to let you know there is another option out there and we have em in stock )

Mark

Thanks for the links Mark But the stocker I think is my best choice. What you have posted IMO (I could be wrong) would be best for auto cross? And that is also just the diff correct? If anything the ring and pinion is the weak link?

ouch same thing happened to me after hundreds of drag launches. I would say the diff isn't the weak point it is the pinion... not much you can do to beef it up either, I talked to shep on that when I broke mine a while ago.

beat me to it, yes the pinion is the weak point, always snaps at that point where yours broke.

I would say the most cost effective solution is just pick up some extra rear diff's, I usually get em for around $500 or so
