Cam install...having problems NEED HELP ASAP!!!

My friend and I are putting a set of Cossi M3's in my IX RS. We have them in and the timing marks are aligned. The problem I have is, the MIVEC intake cam gear has no oil pressure to keep it in one spot. So its moving around +- like 2 teeth on the timing belt. SO, do I start the belt on in the middle where its loose or tight toward the intake or tight toward the exhaust.

I dont want to be a dick, but if your not 150% sure about this dont post.

Some of the cosi cams come with messed up dowel pins (wrong length) take the one out of your stock cam and put it in the new one. LMK if I helped at all, BTW it pulls right out.

as long as the gear is ty-rapped to the belt & hasnt moved, just line up the dowel pin holes within the gear assembly & you should be fine.

the cam that we put in had a cam gear on it. so we didnt have to take the cam gear off. this has nothing to do with the dowel pin holes.

when you start the car it will build oil pressure. The ecu will set the cam to the position on the t-belt it wants. Ie how the mivec advance/retard works.

Fyi next time ziptie the belt to the cam. Did you pull the belt off the crank as well. If not the just line up the gears and put the belt on with slack towars the front of the motor. You still may need to alighn again once all tension is off.

Did you check the torque on the cam gear bolt?

The relationship of your gears to your timing cover is all you need to worry about. The cam will find its position once it gets oil pressure.

I have a plastic prybar I use to put some tension on it while I tighten the bolt.

Pry bar between the water pump and the tensioner pulley. Tension it till the pin in the tensioner slides in and out easily. Rotate motor and check again to make sure pin still slides in and out easily.. if it does, your golden.
