Is Front OEM Undertray Necessary?

The front OEM plastic Undertray directly under the engine is a 3-piece assembly, fasten by knock-insert fasterners. It's a pain in the butt to remove and install each time I need to get under the engine area.

Is it really necessary?

And, is there an easier way?

Not at all. As long as you don't mind a little extra dirt and crap to get under there.

I took mine off the first week I had the car. I kept my car for over 2 years and put 75,000 miles on it. I did not drive my car in the rain that much so I cant comment on the dirty aspect of not having it, but I think for some its worth taking it off, especially if you do a fair amount of work on the car and what not.

It does help stabilize engine temperatures and provides a bit of resistance against front end lift, but for daily driving it's a preference thing. look into an aftermarker undertray. beatrush is quite nice. easy to take off and reinstall, excelent protection and helps creat downforce.

mines been off for over a year also. ever since i put in the green.

in retrospect id probably keep it on. i am in a 4 season area an ddaily drive. i just installed a red and found there to be notably more corrsion underneath and diffculty in getting bolts out. i think it helps avoid corrosion.

I use zipties to hold mine on, very easy to remove and put back on.

I was told by the guys at AMS that you really don't need it, they said it may help with some downforce for racing conditions, but other than that is not really necc. My has been off since I installed a new clutch 3 monts ago
