That's starting to sound more and more like what Jake went through this past season

What are your thoughts on the whole sticking to IRS vs. going to a SRA like Shep and Buschur's black car?

I think its more needed on a DSM rather than an Evo. It seems that the Evo rear holds up to more abuse. If I ever move to a SRA, the weak point would be shifted to the transfer case. So then a custom transfer case would be needed at that point. I believe Shep might be working on something stronger. I don't think that a SRA is cost effective for 99% of the Evo owners out there, or even needed. I would just source out a few rear diffs as spare.

Nice article. I am surprised to hear about the rear 3kgt diff. breaking. I remember that now that you mention it but it was just posted the other day that part was bullet proof and has NEVER broken. So much for that sales pitch.

Not to go off subject but did you get it fixed? Maybe we can hook up next week for dinner or something while I'm in Vegas.

thanks David, yes I swapped out the rear diff with a rebuilt 3kgt one and the car goes straight now. The ring/pinion was fine, just the diff broke. Let me know when you want to meet up, I'm pretty much free all week.

I'm not sure if Dan has even mentioned this yet but he is trapping 160mph with only 38lbs of boost and turd rich. I think it was what dan? 11.1 A/F? Can't remember off the top of my head but I know that car has way more left in her. Can't wait to see Dan get a clean pass out of it, she is going to rip thats for sure!

Oh I gotcha. My bad. Now that I think about it I knew it was parted out but thought you sold it all. Good clean DSM's definitely are HARD to find so probably good to hold on to the chassis.

Cant wait to see the new project.
