I always thought the ac basically is an idler pulley when not turned on. So you guys are noticing a difference bi-passing it?

a clutch disengauges the drive to the compressor when the a/c isnt going so the pulley is just freewheeling with no load on it when the a/c isnt on.

So then whats the point of people just deleting the ac with the belt reroute while still keeping the ac system on the car? From some of these posts thats what it seems like people are doing, unless they are completely removing the ac system as well?...

there is no point in just doing a belt reroute unless you like being hot lol. only reason you would take it off the belt is if you want to remove the system or the system is broken. unless ur silly i guess.
so id assume that they are removing the ac system. thats what i did. took 10 mins.

Seems like by doing it this way you can test it to see if you can really stand to drive the car in the hot summer days without AC. Makes alot of sense to me that come summer if its too hot this way you can just put the belt back on instead of reinstalling the whole AC setup and paying to have it recharged.

I deleted my a/c recently. I had a gates racing belt with 12k miles, a/c system with 60k. No leaks. Held a vacuum just fine. I have everything off except the condenser and fan, which I'm gonna pull out this weekend. I got all the bolts and brackets and sensors too. Pm me I can get u pics if your still interested.

I can notice a small difference with the front end feeling more nimble with all the a/c stuff removed. Im sure once I get the condenser off I'll have better airflow to the radiator. The car revs a bit smoother and I wonder if it's because it's just less pulleys to cause drag?

I had the part number written somewhere. There is a thread somewhere on this forum with the part number for that belt.

Or you could buy the NAPA which is made by Gates, for less.
