AMS Moustache Bar Eliminator
Since Moustaches have not been cool since the days of Magnum P.I. in the 1980's we decided to shave ours off the Orange car. We contacted Master Eric over at AMS and he sent us their Moustache Bar Eliminator. The kit came with detailed instructions and the overall quality was second to none as to be expected from any AMS product. The install was easy, instructions were very detailed, and the fitment was perfect. This is a very inexpensive and easy install for anyone looking to save some weight. I took some pics of the install before and after:

The side diff bushings are different in different of the pictures above. Did you switch from poly there to solids? AMS recommends going solid on the sides with their mustache eliminator kit I believe?
How is the noise? I switched my side and mustache bushings to poly and it added a ton of noise compared to stock, at least in my fairly noisy RS (no back seat, etc.).

The two units we got were anodized black. It says on the description of the product that it is noisy compared to stock. So if you can deal with a bit more noise then it will be fine for a daily driver. We originally had the energy suspension bushings in the rear and the moustache bar. The first 3 pictures are of the old set-up. The fourth pic is of the AMS kit installed. Our side supports are now fitted with the AMS aluminum inserts.

We switched from the energy suspension kit to the AMS kit. The AMS kit come with aluminum inserts for the side supports. Since we don't drive the car on the street I don't know how much louder it is then the poly bushings. I can't hear anything over the fuel pump.

Thank you Keith! That's a huge chunk of weight off the orange car. I can't wait to see what times it's going to put down with all of these changes you have done. I miss the days when AMS and TurboTrix were lobbying for the quickest and fastest EVO 8. You have always been class acts! Thanks for letting us be a part of your car!

Thanks Eric. I couldn't believe how heavy the stock unit was. We are proud to be running this AMS product. We are expecting good things to come for the Orange car after its 167mph pass this weekend. We miss the old days too.
