yeah definitely colder plugs with that turbo. Also i wouldn't touch the iridium tip with a gap tool if you are checking gap. It is pretty delicate and should only be gaped with a gap tool specifically for iridiums.

is it possible the turbo is surging due to the low boost

it ran great when I tuned it, so something has changed, that's why I suspected the spark plugs.

I spoke with zane a moment ago, the plugs are at .023 currently and it sputters at 14psi (low as he can go) or higher boost too but if he drives it at part throttle it's fine and he can get past 4500 where the problem begins.

He's going to check the hoses visually (doesn't have a boost leak tester kit yet) and send me a low boost log so I can see what it looks like while it's happening. My hunch is that he has a bad plug wire or coil...sounds like an ignition problem the way he described it to me.

this probably isn't the solution but make sure the FPR vacuum line isn't pinched. I doubt it is since it is making it to 14psi but it isn't tough to check.

9 is a very cold plug, I didn't go to those until I get into the 550-600awhp area and installed the coil on plug setup to make sure they stay clean and don't foul out quickly.

I'd give you he same advice as filter...gap the plugs to .022 carefully (if you have stock ignition) and see if that fixes it. If it does not, install new plugs, the 9's might be TOO cold and fouling out quickly (don't know your AFR etc..) so try the 8's. If that doesn't work you're in the same boat with filter, could be wires/coils or tune(too rich, not enough timing etc...)

I was having basically the same problem. Car sounded like a subaru and was breaking up badly. I changed my plugs twice, and finally found that my magnacore wires were going bad.

I run the IFLR7h plugs from NGK.. they seem to do fine.

Did not see it in any of the posts, but make sure you are running 9 plugs and not 8 plugs. If you dont know already they are shorter than 9 plugs and dont work very well.

And as others have said, just because advanced or someone tells you they are okay, dont listen to them, they always try to sell 9 owners 8 plugs !!!

I run the stock wires for what it's worth...haven't found a reason to replace them yet.

I get the same sputtering problem, but only when it is cold out and the car is not fully warmed up. I'm running a stock turbo and it usually happens during the transition from vacuum to boost. I changed my plugs out and it still happens. Just another data point for those of you who care.
