this is part of the reason that companies like trust and greddy are "restructuring"...everyone is buying junk knock offs. just spend the money on the real deal. you have a 30K+ car, and your gona try and save a few bucks on ebay car parts? come on now...

Ok, let me give you some input from someone that has used both a junk FMIC and a decent FMIC. First off, the china ones on ebay are glorified radiator cores, nothing else. They might seem to flow more at first but that's because they aren't cooling the charge as much as a decent unit. After 2 hard pulls up the on ramp to the highway where I live, the cheapo one was very very warm to the touch...and not just on one side of the IC but on both sides, which means hot air is being pushed into your motor. I finally snagged a decent deal on an ETS 3.5" (which isn't as nice as the AMS race core or Buschur Race core, but is a good FMIC for the money) which is a very good middle of the road FMIC which actually shows results. I personally didn't notice a huge pressure loss, and I gained throttle response over both the stock core and the ebay junker. This FMIC stays stone cold at all times the way a good FMIC should be, and just looking at the core and end tanks alone says this FMIC is much higher quality and craftsmanship than any cheap knock off. Did I gain power? Hell yes I did...instantly started hitting much higher load points from the onset of boost and it actually pulled a higher load percentage all the way to redline. Would you really want to put an ebay turbo on your car? Probably not if you're smart...it goes the same way with their fmic's.

Guys,

It is allways nice to wear Designer Jeans, and not Kmart Denim; But when something works, and has been proven to work, it is what it is!

My Ebay interccoler does not heat soak, even after 20 Dyno pulls at 36 psi.
In the end of the tuning session, the car makes more power than in the begining of the event.

Even after 1/2 dozen street pulls, giving out rides to friends so they can see how the car pulls, we pull over, feel the pipes and Intercooler, and it is cold and healthy, in Florida hot weather.

My car went 11.8 at 116 plus on it on the small 9.8 stock 16G.

It made 451 whp on the Green with it.

Now the car makes over 525 whp on the red.

Still, this is the same Ebay Intercooler I have used for the last 3 years. Still brand new looking. Working like a champ. My car has 68K miles.

Sure, I will take a better brand Intercooler any time, who would not.

But to say that it is junk, is silly.

My 149.00 Ebay Intercooler has worked for me. Proven and tested to make power, look good, perform good. Just like any other good Intercooler.

And it came with a free LICP that looks just like the shinny Injen one. This cheap part also works good on my car, .

I am speaking from experience. Since I bolted this product on my car, it has worked as well or better, than more expensive units.

And don't call me cheap, because I also use a 600.00 dollar E-01 boost controller, a 1500.00 JDM Greedy Racing Titanium Exhaust, a 2000. Tilton Clutch, etc.

I got my Ebay FMIC for free because I sold the LICP & UICP that came with it.

Ebay FTW! Free front mount and made $50.

I can't speak for an upgraded turbo because I have never had one on my car, much like a lot of the people who scream and regurgitate info about the Ebay FMIC that have never had one on there car but, for a stock turbo, they work fine and do make power! That I can say from my own personal experience. I know that guys like David Buschur have tested these on cars with upgraded turbo's, they say the FMIC from Ebay is not up to the task. I believe them in those instances. However, for my application, it worked fine. I honestly never actually put my hands on either end of my FMIC after doing pulls because I was always to busy smiling about how the car felt. I do know that I made 319whp at 23psi on the stock 05 turbo completely knock free after repeated dyno pulls (7 pulls back to back while tuning with three more pulls being within a minute and a half losing no power and showing no knock). Why did I switch to the Griffin core? Because I got a great deal on a brand new one from Nick at DTM and it more than fit the bill for what I want to do with my car. End Rant.

You don't HAVE to do a retune, but I would because once my buddy added his FMIC and had it tuned it gained almost 30 whp. We both have the AMS clone FMIC and the Muse LICP.

Hope that helps.
