Well It would have been much cheaper if he hadn't bought the N-1 universale muffler for $185...

Nice custom exhaust! That's what I've been talking about... most of what's out there is horriblely over priced/rated.

Now, a little thread jacking...

We offer a COMPLETE 3" mandrel bent stainless steel system with no more bends in it than the system you had built and I gaurantee it is lighter for only $750. This is the COMPLETE system from the turbo to the tip. The cat back by itself is only $450, that is less than the custom system you had built costs.

I just wanted to point this out for anyone interested in having one that bolts up and saving you the run around having someone MIG weld something together for you.

Thanks,

David, bang for the buck along with quality, you got one of the best things going. I want a quieter muffler than yours though... with out a silencer... are you ever going to offer something like a Magnaflow, or maybe a resonator for us old folks?

That is the nicest "scratch built" I have seen, nice job.

I just bought the full Buschur system, and I rode in their red Evo when I picked it up. IMO at idle, the exhaust was barely louder than stock, just seemed to be a little lower tone to the exhaust note. At highway speeds, I noticed the definite lack of "drone" I have experienced in some other exhausts. Now admittedly, at WOT, it is loud, but at that point I don't mind.

Zeus, I copied the below from Buschur's website, which I believe answers your question. See all caps section at bottom. Hope this helps you.

This is our highest flowing catback system for the EVO8. Made of 304 mandrel bent stainless steel with a purpose built high flow stainless muffler. This system is lightweight at 16.5lbs, saving 20lbs over the stock system. Because we've engineered the muffler specifically for this application, this system will not give you that "tinny" exhaust note you've heard from some "other" systems. This system remains quiet at all cruise speeds, opening up at wide open throttle to sound absolutely incredible. This system was worth an additional 50whp with current supporting mods (air filter kit, manual boost control, Super AFC, and 3" downpipe.) ***WE WILL NOW BUILD THE EVO CATBACK WITH ANY MUFFLER REQUESTED THAT WILL FIT WITHIN THE FOLLOWING DIMENSIONS : 20" OVERALL, 16" MUFFLER BODY LENGTH, 6" DIAMETER ... (POWER GAINS MAY NOT BE AS SUBSTANTIAL AS WITH OUR PURPOSE BUILT MUFFLER AND MAY BE CONSIDERABLY LESS) ... Subtract $80.00 from catback price if supplying own muffler.***

That is great. I always suggest DIY catbacks if you can find a quality welder.

It's funny when vendors always reply with a "sales pitch".

The funny part is when the Vendor's product is cheaper when the thread starts out something like look how much I saved doing such and such. So all the extra welds, which are potential leak areas, ended up costing more in this case.

Planning on offering an O2 eliminator down pipe David? It's killing me... I believe you offer the best products out there over all... what appears to be the best exhaust system... It would be the one for me hands down... if I could quiet it down. I'm weighing buying your system and installing a resonator or something to the effect.

I doubt we will offer an 02 eliminator downpipe, actually, no we will never do it. We have had to work on too many DSM's over the years with other companies 02 eliminator downipipes on them. Let me tell you, taking them on and off is a complete PITA.

We will offer a high flow tubular 02 housing on our new turbo kits.

The stock housing is going to outflow anthing you are going to push through it with the stock turbo. Why mess with it? Super nice piece from the factory.

As for the noise level. Find a companies system you like the sound of. Let me know what muffler it is you want me to use and I will build our system with that muffler.

The Buschur exhaust is perfect. I run without a cat and it sounds mean, but it doesen't drone. I'm going to put on a 3in cat for the ethical/legal reasons, and I'm sure it will probably be very mellow. On the previous car I worked on, a 99 civic w/ a hollowed cat and Apexi N1, 70mph you couldn't hear. I mean you would have to yell just to talk! Its fun when your with your car friends, but when I drive to school every morning and listen to the radio...I want buschur for the HP and the sound. Take the cat out for race day and show your friends what 2.0L's sounds like! PLUS its a flangless design, so you can swap cat for no cat as you like!

Yes Civics with Apexi mufflers are loud as HELL My friend had a Integra GSR with one and it sounded like a weed wacker on crack. But turbo cars are much quieter..... I bought the muffler off ebay for $160 + $20 for shipping I will be getting it next week and taking it to miami muffler where they will build me a 3" cat back system for $150. So my total price will be $150 for aluminized pipe and labor ( I live in FL not a problem had it on my GST) , and $180 for the muffler shipped. So my grand total of $330.... There yah go BEAT THAT!!! The only place that comes close is RNR for their 2.5" cat back $320 but add $30 for 3"

I have done my Home Work.. Thanks for the info CACalomino. I stole your idea!

David....i would bet there are many potential buyers out there for you if your exhaust wasn't so stock looking.....yes...some people perfer that...but...many perfer that angled N1 look like this guys. I would buy yours in a heartbeat if you offered an angled muffler like this guys. I want something that offers some performance and some style at that same time. At this time I don't see that in your exhaust...I am not saying it is a bad exhaust, it IS a great exhasut and have read nothing but good reviews about it. But, make something that is more appealing to the eye. Like I said I am not ragging on you....i think your products are great....but these evo exhausts lack any sort of style that someone might be looking for in an aftermarket peice. Like you said...your exhaust is probably one of the lighteset if not the lightest on the market....and that would be awesome if you could make somthing like this guys with the N1 style angled muffler and be superlight at the same time.
